Mission: Nova cool cats special hockey exists for the enrichment of the athlete with a developmental disability. In addition to physical hockey skills, the program emphasizes the development of desirable individual characteristics such as dependability, self-reliance, concentration, willingness to share, and personal accountability.
Programs: Nova cool cats special hockey provides hockey equipment, hockey instruction and social events to developmentally disabled individuals. The cool cats have participated in the following tournaments this year: petersborough, canada; san jose, california; west orange, nj. The cool cats have more than 50 registered team members. The organization also provides opportunities for local youth hockey players to serve as mentors for the special athletes increasing the mentors ability to interact with individuals and recognize outstanding service through the "mentor of the year" program.
