Mission: To protect and restore the health of the marine ecosystem by promoting and implementing science-based restoration and stewardship, enhancing collaboration and attracting resources for the work of the northwest straits initiative.
Programs: Derelict gear program coordinate and conduct educational outreach to prevent the loss of gear in the recreational crab fishery maintain a no-fault reporting, response and retrieval program to ensure that lost nets do not become derelict
nearshore restoration program protect and restore nearshore/marine habitats by removing outdated shoreline armoring and planting native vegetations monitor restored beaches provide expert technical guidance and site visits to interested shoreline property owners
mrc support: work with local volunteers to identify and prioritize restoration projects, and include consideration of climate change impacts in shoreline restoration planning serve as a fiscal agent and/or project manager for mrcs, upon request participate in mrc meetings and community events
