Programs: Nwhf's hb+hc communities collaborate provided general operating support to 10 collaboratives in oregon and southwest washington to work together to build power for families and kids. This included gathering three times to build relationships with one another, visit communities through oregon and southwest washington, and learn new skills. Collaboratives engaged parents and families to advocate for education and healthcare, hosted leadership development trainings, brought community members to oregon's state capitol, and more.
nwhf's hb+hc cultivate success expands proven and promising programs. Cultivate success partnerships included leveraging play in schools to decrease bullying, increase student cooperation, and increase classtime by decreasing the transition time from recess; and delivering dental services through school-based collaborations to promote oral health and reduce the number of missed days of school due to preventable dental disease.
nwhf's hb+hc equip voices supports communities in developing skills and tools to advocate for systems change. These awards include support for advocacy trainings, civic engagement, and coalitions addressing policies considered by the state legislature or by the voting public.
nwhf provides sponsorships and technical assistance awards to support community-led efforts that share the foundation's equity priorities (race/ethnicity, including immigrant and refugee identification; geography and disability) but are smaller requests that do not fit within a major programmatic area. These awards are for community events, fundraisers, learning opportunities and conferences.
