Mission: Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that operates the Children's Science Center Lab at Fair Oaks Mall and STEM programs traveling to schools and other community venues across the region. The Foundation is also developing the Northern Virginia Science Center in Dulles, VA, a world-class, interactive regional science center for families, students and learners of all ages made possible through a pivotal public-private partnership.
Results: • Delivered mission-based programs to 480,000 children, families, and visitors since 2010. • Opened Northern Virginia’s first children’s museum and science center, the Children's Science Center Lab, at the Fair Oaks Mall in 2015. • Delivered subsidized field trips or school-based programs to 40% of the region's Title I elementary schools each year. • Collaborated with local stakeholders to build robust youth development programs and internships, as well as both formal-informal educational research.

Geographic areas served: Multiple jurisdictions throughout Northern Virginia to include Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Prince William County and Arlington County as well as the independent cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park.
Programs: The Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation (dba Children’s Science Center) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates the Children’s Science Center Lab at Fair Oaks Mall and STEM programs traveling to schools and community venues across the region, delivering an annual mission to inspire a love of hands-on STEM learning with opportunities to explore and create. At the core of our mission is a dedication to ensuring underrepresented and unserved children and their families have access to STEM enrichment opportunities. Working with local Title I schools and community partners, the Foundation raises funds to support subsidized STEM programs throughout the region, striving to reach 40% of the region’s Title I elementary schools annually.
