wintertide is a juried biennial art exhibition. It is a collaborative effort by nemaa and public functionary to highlight regional/nemaa member artists' high level of professional artistic capability. Juried biennial exhibitions are an important instigator in the discovery of exceptional work of emerging, mid-career and established artists based on a competitive jury process. In addition to selecting the artists in the biennial, the jurors awarded cash prizes, presented at the opening reception. 2016 was an off-year for wintertide, meaning that while there was no winter show, advance work was done in the fall of the year to prepare for the 2017 show.
our vision is to support a community where artists can live, work, and showcase their art. And we work to promote connections between individuals, businesses and artists for the collective benefit of our community. Nemaa serves as a partner in accomplishing the goals of the 2002 arts action plan - a 15-year plan for the success of the northeast minneapolis arts district, which represents northeast artists in the neighborhood and city developments, and works for creative solutions on issues that affect artists. Nemaa maintains the nemaa website, arts district banners, arts district email list, and occasionally participates in committee meetings and plans.
