Mission: To promote the vitality, independence and well-being of older adults in north ottawa county by providing needed services and information, encouraging recreation and life long learning, and advocating for solutions to the issues of aging.
Programs: Senior center - provide wellness and social activities, educational programming and trips, and meals to older individuals through the coopersville and grand haven sites. Approximately 1,200 members belong to the activity center that provided over 40 fitness and life long learning choices a month. Over 17,000 calls for information and referral were managed.
case coordination and support - case coordinators work individually and confidentially with people to determine what services they need to remain living independently. Over 1,150 hours of social work support were provided to an average of 140 homebound elderly per month in north ottawa county.
homemaking - provide homemaking, personal care, friendly reassurance and respite assistance to older individuals to allow them to continue living in their homes. Over 120 hours of personal assistance were provided to an average of 5 clients per month.
senior projects - provide insurances counseling, income tax filing assistance, prescription assistance, and consumer advocacy for individuals over sixty. Approximately 400 individuals served. Over $10,000 was directed to older adults experiencing an acute or crisis healthcare or housing situation to obtain a resolve to the issue. Independent living coordination - manages activities and volunteers of a specialized program directed to assisting with independent living. Over 1,100 hours of service resulted in 700 contacts with older adults and over 240 clients receiving insurance options assistance. 800 hours were dedicated to obtaining $87,000 in medication for older adults. Over 400 individuals obtained over $210,000 in refunds or tax credits through aarp tax program. Volunteer drivers logged over 12,500 miles and committed to over 1,400 rides to medical appointments. 3,600 rides were provided through noccoa for public transportation services. Over 420 pieces of equipment were loaned to support older adults with physical needs. 30 clients are served with telephone reassurance and 6 are served with friendly visitor.
