Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Disaster Aid, Search & Rescue Squads

Mission: The mission of the NCTA K9 Search and Recovery Unit is to provide highly qualified K9 handlers and K9 search teams twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week; to assist local, state and federal agencies with locating missing persons. K9 Teams may respond to any location within the State of North Carolina when requested, and may respond out of state on a case-by-case basis decided by the team Board of Directors. The NCTA K9 Search and Recovery Unit is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit registered in the State of North Carolina, and all members of the organization are volunteer. Members receive no compensation for their services to the team, other than training or other items that directly aid in their mission to provide services to the NCTA K9 Search and Recovery Unit. These items may be provided on a case by case basis, depending on available funding. Funding for the team is provided by donations only, and we do not receive state or federal funding. The team will apply for federal and state funding (Grants) on occasion, but these sources of funding are not continuous or permanent. All members of the team, being volunteer, are expected to provide their own search and rescue equipment, with the exception of some uniform items including patches and insignia. Given the large out of pocket expenses each of our members spend per year, donations to the team are requested and encouraged by the public. Your donations to help us offset these costs are always appreciated!
