Mission: Nylpi's mission is to advance equality and civil rights, with a focus on health justice, disability rights and environmental justice, through the power of community lawyering and partnerships with the private bar.
Programs: Nylpi's disability justice program works to defend the rights of people with disabilities to equal access to free and appropriate educational opportunities, transportation services, public accommodations, healthcare, and housing.
nylpi's environmental justice program addresses the inequitable environmental burdens borne by low-income and of-color communities in new york city. Nylpi seeks to ensure that schools and communities are free of environmental contaminants, waste management responsibilities are fairly distributed, and that access to clean air and public parkland is available to all.
nylpi's health justice program works to address inequality in the healthcare system, working to ensure equal access to high quality healthcare for low-income communities, people of color, and people with limited english proficiency.
