Mission: NELCWIT''s mission is to work within the community to build safety, justice, and dignity for all. We offer counseling, education, safe homes, and advocacy to women and children who have survived domestic violence and/or sexual abuse. As an anti-racist, multicultural organization, NELCWIT also joins with and mobilizes other groups and individuals who are working to end domestic violence and sexual abuse, ensure human rights, and create social change.
Programs: NELCWIT offers safety and empowerment for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our 30-town area is characterized by rural poverty and low employment in the population centers.NELCWIT's programs include counseling and advocacy for individuals who are dealing with or survivors of domestic and sexual violence; counseling and advocacy for children who have witnessed violence; a 24 hour rape crisis and domestic violence hotline; safe homes and referrals to safe shelter; and court advocacy. We provide special outreach to Latinas in our area. NELCWIT also offers prevention education on domestic violence, sexual assault, teen dating violence, and healthy relationships. We works closely with police departments and other agencies in our area. There never any charge for any of NELCWIT's services.
