Causes: Community & Neighborhood Development, Economic Development
Mission: To revitalize and sustain the near west side as a thriving business and residential corridor through collaborative efforts to promote economic development, improved housing, unified neighborhood identity, branding, and greater safety for residents and businesses.
Programs: Promoting assets reducing crime: program focuses on (1) promoting the assets of the local community including historic neighborhood buildilngs, businesses, people, and events such as the historic concordia neighborhood tour, the near west side farmer's market, etc. And (2) strategies that reduce crime including working with the district attorney in a unique partnership to address place and people based strategies, sponsoring programming like the near west side landlord compact, the near west side partners security ambassador program with two full time security ambassadors, the lighting challenge providing funds for residents to improve lighting and the near west side surveillance program providing funding for both commercial and residential property owners for surveillance cameras. Economic development fund/challenge: the fund has provided $2 million in economic development funding that has been used to secure, develop, and support economic development with properties throughout the near west side. The challenge is the campaign to raise additional funds to support this objective with additional funders. Business development and recruitment support: development and recruitment efforts covers several areas including marketing (i. E. Tours, letter writing campaigns, mailers, presentations, etc. ), business retention efforts (i. E. Grants, safety, security training/support, promotion of business, etc. )
