Causes: Women, Womens Service Clubs
Mission: To advocate, educate women on their va benefits and entitlements and bond with all women veterans with special emphasis on women returning from deployment, disabled or homeless. Health initiatives; breast cancer, diabetes, hiv, hcp awareness and prevention and lend leadership skills to youth programs.
Programs: Annual women's veteran stand down: provided food, clothing, personal hygiene items for women veterans who were homeless and at risk of homelessness. Two workshops on hiv & hcp, va benefits, employment and community resource information. Pre and post surveys were processed for 53 women in attendance.
assistance to veterans: provided financial assistance to women veterans in need as well as sent care packages to women serving on deployment. Provided toys and gifts to veteran women and their children. 30 women and children were provided holiday gifts.
color guard detail: perform at community events, participate in three annual chicago parades, and collaborates with dignity memorial cemeteries and co-host annual memorial day ceremony to honor fallen comrades.
girl scout support: adopted a girl scout troop to teach leadership skills, mentor, teach flag etiquette, and good citizenship. Provided peer support programs for forums on 8 dimensions of wellness, money smart, art and craft therapy.
