Mission: To empower socially disadvantaged women in rural and urban America to gain available local and federal resources.Our purpose is to educate, develop and provide networking opportunities so that bonds of sisterhood may be created among all women.
Results: National Women in Agriculture has been recognized by Oklahoma Mayor Mick Cornett for being an organization that has planted "seeds of success" in its community. NWIAA has also been invited to the White House to attend a sustainable agricultural briefing in early 2014. The National Women in Agriculture holds an Annual Symposium geared towards education and sustainability which has gained momentum each year.
Target demographics: Socially disadvantaged women and youth in rural and urban America
Direct beneficiaries per year: National Women in Agriculture Association has several outreach programs. Farmers Market offers free booth space to farmers who offer locally grown produce.Other programs offered by NWIAA are Hip Hop Producers which teams with United States Veterans who act as mentors to new farmers.Bumbleee's and Butterflies is geared towards youth ages 6-12.The NWIAA Blossoms Program for young ladies ages 12-17.Lastly,the NWIAA Circle "R" Ranch Program offers oppurtunities to physically challenged individuals.
Geographic areas served: Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennesse, Louisiana, North Carolina and New Mexico. There are chapters pending in Kansas, Texas, and California.
Programs: Our current focus is saving and educating eastside Oklahoma City youths through the National Women in Agriculture Sustainable Science Academy where we promote education and health programs. All levels of donations are currently being accepted. National Women in Agriculture is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works closely with the USDA in Washington D.C. NWIAA has been invited to the White House in February 2014 to be recognized for its outreach services.
