Causes: Blood Banks, Health
Mission: The trust operates exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary and educational purposes, provided, however, that the trust, subject to the foregoing, engages only in activities in furtherance of the following purposes:1. To fund research, education and training in all aspects of blood banking; transfusion medicine; hematopoietic, cellular and gene therapies; and tissue transplantation;2. To encourage the voluntary donation of blood and other tissues and organs through education, dissemination of public information and research;3. To encourage, through research and education, the most appropriate use of blood, blood components, and blood derivatives; 4. To improve the quality of transfusions by encouraging education and research regarding the appropriate means of ensuring the safest transfusion possible; and5. To actively support research and education through its own programs and work with other organizations in areas of research and education in blood banking services.
Programs: Grant awards:two (2) grants were awarded to two (2) principal investigators at two (2) institutions, for early-career scientific research. The research findings are published by american association of blood banks and other blood transfusion and scientific journals and periodicals.
