Four years ago, my mother found a free weekend workshop for inspired filmmakers. I wasn't sure how to exactly feel at the time, it sounded like it wouldn't be what I hoped for. The weekend had an incredible affect on me. The people I spent it with were older versions of me. The conversations were mutual in our passions and the work made me the ever more enthusiastic for what I would be committing myself to for years to come. Mythic Bridge brings that sensation and joy to mentoring young kids and teenagers and even adults on filmmaking. The films come out, whatever the quality may show, the treasure of it is from the reactions, the self criticism and also from the gratitude everyone shares. The lessons learned and the assurances that become clear and the sentiments that are explored individually. But I can only speak for myself. I've gained so much from Mythic Bridge. I've made a friendship with some folks that matter a lot to me. I've explored and discovered things about myself. And my devotion for this, mass art, gets warmer and stronger. I went from a participant to mentor. The special gift of giving back what you've gotten. I've learned a lot just doing that. My patience drives but it now paces. I believe the idea that there are so many people that actually want to make movies, shows, music videos, vignettes, commercials etc. amazes me and it moves me into emotions I cannot even explain. So why not show them how it can work? I've been asked many times about Mythic Bridge. How has it affected me and changed me and the story behind it involving me. My initial answer now is just simply, 'I am who I am now because of it'. I'd like to believe I'm in a good place with what I love to do. Mythic Bridge strives to make dreams happen. It embraces just about anyone apart of it and only wants to contribute to more inspired artists of this form. It is one of the best parts of my life. As they say, Long Live the Bridge
The amount that I have seen these kids grow in just a weekend is remarkable. Not only do they learn a new craft but they also develop teamwork skills, develop a passion, and end up with something to show for it. Every workshop the films get better and better and more and more kids are coming back. I can't wait to see how this organization continues to develop.
By empowering imaginations and teaching marketable creative and technical skills Mythic Bridge helps underpriveledged youths in a meaningful and sustainable way. Mythic Bridge and it's founders are making a true impact and contributing to the betterment of our world.
Mythic Bridge is a magical place, its like finding a unicorn in the city! Amazing committed filmmakers giving back to eager and committed youth. The art that is created in one weekend is incredible but its more than that... its about creating a compassionate community of success where everyone aspires to bring the best out of each other's dreams. One of the best workshops I have had the pleasure to participate in! A Mythic Bridge weekend is a weekend of creating possibility and empowering yourself and those around you. The participants have an amazing time and leave feeling touched, moved and inspired to create. There nothing better than sharing the experience of film making with others. Mythic Bridge does this in a way that works for everyone involved and creates a safe place for all participants to try something new and feel supported. A fantastic nonprofit.
I had had the chance to work with some of the founding members of this group on a number of projects. These men and women are superheroes. Get your kids involved, then YOU get involved. This Bridge will take you places!
Had the opportunity to assist/participate in several workshops & always had an amazing time. The skills to construct AND shoot several short films in one weekend are innumerable!
The most energetic , sincere and devoted people you could ever hope to meet as well as extremely talented and experienced. There's something almost miraculous in the way they can pull something together from next to nothing in no time at all. A great time is had by all and so much hope is inspired. And did I fail to mention everyone is good looking, too?
I know first hand the great work this organization does. Media is a growth industry in the USA and offers immense opportunities for at risk kids. Not only does it allow them to creatively express themselves and their frustrations, but it also gives them life skills that can translate into viable careers.
