Mission: Music at Eden''s Edge (MEE), founded in 1982, is a distinguished professional chamber music ensemble dedicated to making fine music available to both the seasoned concertgoer and the first-time listener. MEE strives to bring music to groups who do not normally experience classical music in their daily lives and who would be enriched by exposure to Music at Eden''s Edge. MEE delivers programs to two underserved populations, seniors (Senior/Family Series) and school children (Youth Chamber Concert Series), as well as its Summer Chamber Music Series. For each of these audiences MEE presents music as an activity and experience tailored to their capacity for enjoyment and, in the case of schoolchildren, for learning.
Programs: Youth Chamber Concerts: Initiated in 1990, this music enrichment program introduces live chamber music to K-5 elementary students through a music residency at 9 partnership public schools, reaching over 2700 students annually. The program's specific focus on chamber music highlights teamwork and cooperation. This highly participatory experience affords many children their only exposure to Classical and other live music forms.Senior Family Series: 5 free summer concerts held during daylight hours in a fully accessible venue, offering seniors and families in the community an opportunity to hear fine music and engage with musicians and friends. We encourage community attendance through letters of invitation and follow-up to local councils on aging, nursing homes, assisted living communities and low-income senior housing developments. At the concerts, we provide individual usher service, large print programs and a post-concert reception.
