Mission: The mission of the museum of chinese in america is to celebrate the living history of chinese americans, to inspire continuing contributions to u. S. Civil society and its evolving cultural narrative, and to empower and bridge diverse communities across generations, ethnicity and geography through moca's dynamic stories and programs.
Programs: To preserve and interpret the history and culture of chinese and their descendants in the united states. Research and disseminate historical and current information and materials regarding the community heritage. Included in its programs is the digital moca project, a national online destination for people to explore, connect with and learn about the culture and experiences of the chinese in america from anywhere in the world. At the heart of this purely online experience will be a repository that will collect, document and present chinese american stories from around the nation, including text, images and multimedia--and incorporate them into moca's collections. It will create a vibrant online community that also redefines the nature and capacity of a cultural history museum as a center for preserving human stories, not just objects.
