Mission: Mountain child advocacy center seeks to identify, respond to, and treat child abuse and
Programs: Child abuse prevention and personal safety education: 2016-2017 impact: 9,513 students, parents/caregivers and teachers/youth leaders. This is a highly interactive research-based program for children k-5 that not only educates but empowers them with skills to protect themselves, to develop support systems, and to recognize, resist, and report abuse. Services also include non-offending parent support, information on children's personal safety, and community education and training. Triple p parenting is our main approach when working with adults because it is an intervention with the main goal of increasing knowledge, skills, and confidence of parents to reduce the prevalence of mental health, emotional, and behavioral problems in children and adolescents. The program is specifically tailored for at risk children and parents. The mountain cac community educator was trained and certified to present darkness to light, stewards of children training to adults in order to have a better informed community on how to recognize and appropriately respond to child sexual abuse victims.
crisis intervention /counseling: 2016-2017 impact: 108 children, a 54% increase versus last year, received therapy in over 4,000 sessions. Mountain cac was able to treat substantially more children by hiring more tf-cbt rostered therapists including two bi-lingual therapists.
