Mission: The Minority Freedom Community Fund ('the Fund’) is a public charity organized to improve the lives of African Americans and minorities in the United States of America through a multifaceted approach that includes providing capital infusions, supporting existing social infrastructure, and promoting holistic wellness.. It was established by philanthropist TeQuion Brookins in 2019 to address severe unmet need among minorities in the United States. The goal of the fund is to elevate participatory grantmaking among those who are most often the targets but rarely the voices of traditional philanthropy. Addressing the economical, social, and spiritual well-being of minorities across the country is done through a variety of programs that are led by community members, civic leaders, other nonprofits, business owners, and government agencies alike. Our delivery method primarily entails serving as a fiduciary for programs and providing capital in the form of grants, scholarships and interest-free loans, and offering technical assistance to individuals and organizations that align with our mission.
As a community fund, or goal is to ensure that the people we aim to serve have the loudest voices in our decision-making processes. To be eligible for consideration, applicant individuals & organizations must identify as a minority or provide services to minorities. Preference is given to those who have been turned away or are ineligible to apply for other forms of support due to financial, discriminatory, or other reasons.

Not too long ago, I bought my first property and not even eight months later I had a house fire actually my entire unit suffered from the fire because I lived in a condo at the time I lost everything on my brand new furniture that I have recently financed and due to things being how they are I still have to pay everything off because my credit score couldn’t afford to take a hit otherwise I wouldn’t be able to get any credit for anything else. My car got repossessed cause I’ve been having to take all my money to afford hotel rooms because of the fire. The city of Ann Arbor said that they do what they can to assist everyone who suffered in the fire, but unfortunately funding wasn’t there to help everyone I’m a 34 year-old African-American female and I’ve been on my own my entire adult life. This is hard for me to reach out for help, but I just don’t know what to do anymore. If somewhere somewhere could find it in their heart to do whatever they could to assist me in my time need I would appreciate it so much. I do believe that there are good people out in the world. it’s just sometimes we all go through things and I hope someone out there can feel my pain and connect with me somehow it’ll truly be a blessing. I know I’ll overcome this tragedy eventually for sure But at the time things are really hard on me and my family. I have two daughters ages six and three and they’ve been trying to stay positive for me because they see me cry often. Unfortunately, I’m uncomfortable posting pictures of my children on the Internet but if anyone wants to reach out, my telephone number is 3135235465. Have a blessed day. Thank you.
