student affairs:-december 2016 commencement held at the minneapolis institute of art; 40 graduates attended the ceremony: 35 bfa, 4 bs, 1 mfa-may 2017 commencement held at the children's theatre; 126 graduates attended the ceremony: 100 bfa, 6 bs, 19 mfa, 1 ma-updated student alert notices to give more flexibility for faculty to track when students are struggling in areas other than academics-new reports were created for use in off campus studies to track sevis related requirements-semester course scheduling updated to be more streamlined with the many departments who need to contribute to the process-six exchange students attended in fall 2016-there were 9 bfa and 8 mfa international students enrolled in degree programs-sixteen mcad students studied off-campus in spring 2017-there were 571 counseling appointments and 138 individual students seen by counselors-brought in speakers on topics of consent and relationship violence in addition to current wellness events such as spa day, petting zoo, and alcohol awareness-there were a number of activities around the election, including "get out the vote" campaigns and post-election responses, such as student gallery shows-students selected and hosted guest artist lecture featuring kelly connole-58 registered clubs throughout the year-emotional support animals are now on campus-increased the number of furnished apartments on campus to accommodate more students during the academic year and to house summer residents-adding more driving courses for resident assistants to allow them more access to vehicles for off-campus events-hired new director in fall 2016-increased part time staffing in center to help with increased disability accommodations and tutoring, specifically software tutoring-implemented aim, accessible information management to track disability accommodations-increased support for esl (english as second language) students in center
academic services:-hlc complaint system enacted-successful hires in academic affairs office, continuing education, online learning, academic services-transitioned supervisory change of career services to academic affairs, and learning center to student affairs-plan completed for entrepreneurial studies e/studio
-managed the master of fine art's program relocation and building renovation. -replaced roof on the liberal arts wing and 148 apartment building. -renovated the 2537 apartment building including new tuckpointing, new roof and electrical upgrades. -remodeled an apartment unit to gain a fully accessible ada apartment. -replaced an underground steam line that supplies heat to mcad's academic buildings. -oversaw the design process for the e/studio renovation. Construction of the project is scheduled for the summer of 2017. -finished design and bidding for the 2540 apartment building envelope project. Construction is scheduled for the summer of 2016. -completed various small projects including: painting the cargo doors, main building gallery light upgrade, remodeling/converting the third floor restrooms to all gender, 3d laser room exhaust, converting main building exterior lights to led and morrison building envelope analysis/presentation. -managed the fifth year of the sustainability committee who assists overseeing sustainable initiatives at mcad.
