Mission: Inspired by the sisters of st. Joseph of northwestern pennsylvania, saint vincent health system is a community of caregivers dedicated to bringing god's healing love to all, and committed to compassion and excellence in the delivery of a continuum of holistic care.
Programs: Millcreek physician associates is committed to providing acute medical care services to the erie and surrounding communities regardless of race, creed, color, religion, or any individual's ability to pay. The services provided include both inpatient and outpatient medical care in support of the health center's long standing mission to provide high quality, cost effective, acute care to our community. Charity care:the saint vincent community care program was established to ensure that safe, high quality health care services are available to all regardless of a person's ability to pay. Those individuals or families who qualify for the program receive medical care at no cost or at a discounted rate, depending upon the individual cases. With the increasing number of uninsured and underinsured members of erie and the surrounding communities, saint vincent significantly increased the qualifying limit for its charity care program at three and one-half times the federal poverty level. Saint vincent is one of just a few hospitals in the country to provide its community with these generous income guidelines. Although most u. S. Hospitals provide charity care for their communities, most qualifying limits are at two or two and one-half times the federal poverty level. In fiscal year 2010, $3,891 in foregone charity care costs were realized by millcreek physician associates. Medicaid shortfall:losses incurred by millcreek physician associates as a result of medicaid shortfalls in fiscal 2010 totaled $ 36,213. Uncompensated health services for the community:saint vincent provides certain vital health care services that are not financially profitable or reimbursed by governmental or other agencies. However, in keeping with the mission of saint vincent, millcreek physician associates is committed to provide these services. Medicare shortfall:in keeping with community benefit reporting guidelines developed by the catholic health association of the united states, medicare shortfalls associated with caring for low-income persons (supplemental security income recipients and persons who are dually eligible and are covered by both medicare and medicaid) are not included in community benefit financial numbers. We share saint vincent's level of support for low-income persons.
