I have been involved wth Lake Erie Fanfare from the very day it was created 28 years ago and have served as a board member, director of the drum corps itself, treasurer and I guess you'd say as the CEO as well. All the while remaining a volunteer in the group. I think one of our most exemplary qualities is that we have done all that we've done with nothing but volunteers. No highly paid staff - simply every dollar raised goes right into the programs. We've offered our area numerous DCI shows over the years, clincs, the Lake Erie Regiment drum & bugle corps and the LER Independent Winter Color Guard as well. We've worked countless fundraising events to fund these programs and are truly proud of their success. We hope our efforts will sustains us as we move forward and keep this unque activity here in our area for many years to come!
I have been involved on th board as well as an instructor for the organization for many years. I feel that this organization is a great way for kids to stay active, learn about different genres of music, learn dance and become confident and strong individuals. This organization also enables the kids to travel and experience places and events they would never see if not involved. One of the greatest things is the valuable relationships, friends and families that develope for a life time. This organization has also help many kids deal with and learn how to manage their lives by helping them through some serious life situations. I feel this is a valuable organization that deserves all the help anyone could give to stay active for the area.
LEFanfare really helped make the German Festival a success for the past several years! Without Ray L. and his group, the entire festival would have failed. The festival is a family-oriented, genuine German gathering.
We rely on Ray L and his group for set-up, operations and general supervision of this community celebration of our German heritage.
Lake Erie Regiment has provided our daughter with a multitude of positive experiences. Over the 7 years she was a member of this corps, Alyssa grew as an individual, increasing her self-confidence, as a member, caring for her corps family, and for her community as she represented Erie at home and on the road. Her knowledge base expanded in the areas of music, dance, flag, saber and rifle. Leadership skills were gained with experience and age within the corps. Lifetime friendships were formed. Opportunities to express her abilities as an individual, a partner and as a member of a larger group provided life lessons of self-reliance and team membership. The staff provides excellent role models for the members as leaders teaching perseverance. "Heart" is evident within this corps. Members not only learn to become self-reliant, but they learn how important being a "part" of a "whole" is. Traveling with LER provided oppotunities for Alyssa to see parts of the country she hadn't visited before. It also taught her how to pack and unpack in an extrememly efficient manner! Being punctual for a bus, car ride, practice, competition, and class the morning after a wkend competition gained importance. Appreciation for hard work, dedication and of aches and pains, while enjoying creative genuis and friends had my daughter looking forward to her time with the Lake Erie Regiment. Regardless of the weather, she chose to travel at least an hour and half (each way) to/from college for practices or to meet a bus. She chose to pick up friends along the way so they too could continue to participate in this wonderful organization. Please fund this very worthwhile organization. Our child and others like her, will gain so much from their experiences with Lake Erie Regiment.
I have been apart of Lake Erie Regiment for a total of two years now. Being a part of this organization has allowed me to grow as a person in aspects that I never would have foreseen before. Beside learning the art of colorguard, I have gained useful skills that I can use in the very future of my life. Through performances I have learned how to be more confident in front of a crowd. To hold my head up high and to show them why I spend my weekends practicing and perfecting the show. It has shown me that somethings do not come easy, but with hard work anything can be mastered. You just have to have a positive attitude, and great people to help you out a long the way. At first I was intimidated to join for the level they were at seemed too hard for me. I gave it a try and I have not regretted my decision since. It is a place of hard work and good friends. This is one of the best things that I have ever signed up for and my hopes are that it does not end anytime soon. Thank you for the opportunity Lake Erie Fanfare. Without you I would not be the person that I am today. Sincerely Kayla R. Hardner
I have been an instructor under the Lake Erie Fanfare for approximatley 17 years and i have never been involved in an organization that i treasure more. I have seen many kids go through this organization that have benefited and grown in so many ways that without would probably be different people today. This organization has offered hard work ethics, leadership skills to be learned, independance, love and learning of music, self disipline and much more. This organization has also offered a place to call home for a period of time on the road and to have the opportunity to see many wonderful places and landmarks that they would have never had the opportunity to do. Some of the kids had the opportunity to be at a better place and be around wonderful friends that were made for a life time. I would be involved all over again for 17 years in a moment. I hope my invovement doesnt end any time soon. They are wonderful people and an example of hard work in keeping something they believe in alive. Thanks lake Erie Fanfare, Shawn Marie Gorring
