Mission:
Using the Promotor(a) model, Migrant Health Promotion provides culturally-appropriate health education and outreach and sustainable community development to farmworker, migrant, border, and/or other underserved or isolated communities throughout the nation. Through increased knowledge and skill building, individuals and families will be empowered to live healthy lives.
Programs: In this program Community Health Worker Doulas provide social support and perinatal health education to at-risk first-time mothers in Cameron County, Texas. The Doulas provide physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and after birth; provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period; and provides breastfeeding support and infant health education throughout the first year of the child's life.
