I regularly and eagerly volunteer to collect a full-size rental truck of disaster relief supplies from around the state if Minnesota and bring them to Midwest Mission at least twice a year. They are incredibly organized and well run, responding quickly to U.S and international disasters, always seemingly emptying out their depot, knowing people appreciate their expediency and will donate additional supplies in a timely matter.
Their regular weekly communication updates through social media and other means keep me informed, and encourage me to give monthly to their great organization. I know my money is spent well.
I have honored to be one of their board members.

On Palm Sunday, April 2, 2023, 68 volunteers representing eleven United Methodist Churches in the Jacksonville Illinois area that belong to the Holy Spokes Cluster met at Grace United Methodist Church. The group packed 1800 rice meals in two hours. Midwest Mission provided the equipment and supplies.

Each rice meal consists of a vitamin-filled seasoning packet with dried vegetables, rice, and soy. One bag will feed 6 people. The meals were given to families affected by disasters and others who need food in the United States and around the world. Recent shipments have been sent to Turkey and Ukraine.

The churches in the cluster have raised $3,600 to pay for the meals which cost $2 per packet. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and service. After the meals are packed the group had a time of fellowship with pizza. Martha Vache, Holy Spokes Cluster Chair

I have been an individual volunteer and I have volunteered with women and church groups for many years. I am now a board member and have had opportunities to help with making decisions to ensure all is as stated, we send LOVE around the world. I have assisted with many projects, like filling cleaning buckets, assembling personal dignity kits, putting together school bags or counting and sorting items to be used to create other kits. One of my favorite jobs is to help put together meal/food packets. It is great to see community groups from near and far volunteering. During my days at Midwest I have made many friends. It is a wonderful feeling knowing I am a part of providing items to persons, or groups or situations that truly need them. They may feel blessed to receive needed item but I am blessed to be able to help provide those items. WOW, what a great organization, we have expanded operations and who knows what God has in store for the future of Midwest Mission.

I was blessed to be part of MWMDC as a volunteer along with a Mission Team. Staff and volunteers are amazingly gifted to work for God’s Mission and on behalf of people of all ages, nations and races. The Center is nothing but a Hands-on Christianity, putting our faith into practice and making a missional difference in the lives of people and communities locally, nationally and globally. To God be the glory, great things He has done and He will do!

MMDC is the hands & feet of GOD helping all of His people. They help & support local communitities, states, & international agencies. Volunteers get to do a variety of work. No one is bored! Great Fellowship & making new friends is always a highlight. There's no age limit for volunteers from teenagers to experienced 90+ year olds, they have jobs for you that make a difference to others. MMDC has camping sites & a dorm for volunteers to improve your volunteer time. Great team building opportunity for youth groups. MMDC does a great job of using all donations-nothing is wasted when you donate items or money! Try it - Being a friend along. You have to plan ahead to bring groups & stay in the dorm as their calendar fills up a year in advance.

I would like to thank God for the opportunity to serve as I did as part of the Westwood United Methodist church group in October, 2019. We served in sewing, desk building, infrastructure repairs, sorting, and loading. What a blessing it was to serve and help as we did!

I have volunteered twice. The first experience was a little tedious: counting washcloths and other items as part of an inventory. The most recent experience was much more enjoyable: actually putting items together as part of a package. Bother experiences gave me the opportunity to work with volunteers from other organizations and not just those who came with me.

The staff are amazing! I give them kudos for working with a wide variety of volunteers, and I totally support their mission objectives.

Volunteering at MMDC since 2004, my passion for its mission only grows. It is a totally debt free NGO with ingrained friendliness and compassion. The best way to donate is via suggested options on www.midwestmission.org. ‘Go there’ and be a part of our family.

My initial response to this email of supplies to the Bahamas along with thousands of food packages prepared is “precious.”

It is so because the Bahamas relief effort combines the corporate world with the church as well as individual efforts. It shows an alive and vibrant and united staff along with the creative leadership at MMDC.

It I precious because the different age groups and their smiles represent the joy of serving others as Jesus Christ came to serve us.

It is precious because Christ is first and allowed to coordinate in His providence help, support, preparation and delivery to those in need through this one ministry.

It is precious because finances are handled frugally and wisely with God providing all income up front! In doing so He honors the ministry.

As a retired minister having served voluntarily some time each week for 8 years I always knew it was time well spent because it is a ministry that is precious to establishing our Lord’s “Kingdom of Love”on earth.

As a new pastor I am always looking for ways to help my congregation have hands-on missionary opportunities. Two weeks ago seven of my church members and I served at the Midwest Mission Distribution Center. Some, like Jeanne Miller (photo, left) put school desks together--using power tools for the first time ever! Some worked on Personal Dignity Kits. Some worked on bicycle repairs. Everyone came home saying how much they learned about the MMDC's worldwide and local outreach in Jesus' name, and how much they looked forward to participating again next month!

They provide needed services to small town that are not close to a metropolitan area. Our church sponsors a food bank that receives items from a Midwest. Without them, we would struggle providing for our community, in which 19% or the residents live below the state poverty level.

They help so many people with their services. They make volunteering easy and fun. I’ve volunteered with a group from work, which was well received by all... doing something for others and having a great time doing it. Our church also receives food from them to distribute at our community food pantry. It’s continues to be a fantastic partnership.

I worked with a team assembling flood buckets, making school kits, repairing sewing machines, building desks and whatever else needed to be done. I also met someone who was on the receiving end of the buckets and school kits. When I asked them how they used the school kits, they shared that the children needed something to do while they wait ~ wait for the water to recede, wait for school to start again, wait for the electricity to come back on, etc. A HUGE joy was being able to pray for the different kits made that particular day. Prayers for the shipments heading out and for the receivers is always done. What a blessing to be able to help and to hear how these supplies are used!!! Thank you MMDC for the chance to help others.

It is such a blessing to serve at an agency that finds a place for everyone to serve. Assembling many sorts of projects: school, health, cleaning, sewing, infant layettes, school desks from old bleachers. When you come here, they will put you to work. And literally touch the world literally. And you meet folks from throughout the US. You go away feeling so appreciated and you know you have made a difference in the lives of persons in need.

I volunteered a few years ago. It was a very rewarding experience. The staff was very supportive and accommodating to some special needs of our group.
We were told where our projects were going and how they would help the recipients. They were organized from day one of the 5 day stay. I was impressed that even “throw away” objects can have a beneficial use.
They are committed to helping those in need. Their dedication and compassion are inspiring.

Helped us at the mission for the last 4 years and it is a rewarding experience. They run the mission outreach with a positive goal in mind. They have helped thousands of people in the USA and in other countries. I have also done sewing at home and took the items to the mission were they distributed them where needed. This year has been very trying because of all the flooding, weather related distraction and wild fires. They put God first and humanity second. Were there is a need they respond. Nothing that is donated is thrown away. If it can’t be used in one place it will go somewhere else. All the packing material is also recycled.

My husband and I appreciated having the opportunity to make desks, sew, count items, plane wood, and put together a variety of kits -- all within a week's time! Many people send items to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center, but it's time well spent to go work at the site, too. Besides collecting more items for them, we're already signing up to work next year. To top it off, my husband drives trailer loads of collections from our Conference to the Center.

Everyone at the mission are working to be the hands and feet of Jesus along side of the volunteers. This was such a great experience for me as well as those I brought with me. Midwest Mission truly goes above and beyond not just nationally and international but right in their own back yard. Midwest Mission teamed up with Community Connection Point (we are a childcare resource & referral agency that connects families to quality child care & resources) to help with our Health and Safety Baskets that will be given out to Licensed Exempt Child Care Providers who can care for up to three children in their own home. Midwest Mission gave us over 50 pounds of cleaning supplies to help support the Health and Safety needs for the child care providers homes. In addition, Midwest Mission is allowing us to store all of our supplies for these baskets at their location due to us being limited on space. We are extremely grateful for this partnership and know that this support will help meet the Health and Safety needs of the children in the central IL area.
