Miami Community Charter School opened in August 2004 in Florida City, Florida. The school's major objective is to offer a viable school choice to a community that has few options and fewer resources. This charter school serves a population made up of 99% minority students, 96% of which come from spanish speaking households. The majority of the schools families reside in a migrant workers camp located near the school.

The founders of the charter school placed it specifically in this area to try and keep the children of these migrant workers from following their parents into the fruit and vegetable fields of Homestead, Florida. Last year 90% of our graduating class went on to attend college.
