A beautiful sanctuary also dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating native wildlife. Educational tours that bring forth curiosity and respect for misunderstood wildlife.
Researched varied diets, enrichment, and management through positive reinforcement for the resident animals. High quality vet care!
Rescues native wildlife in need via community drop offs or in field capture, birds, reptiles, mammals.
Educates public on best wildlife management practices for coexistence.
Highly recommend!
Where do we begin with the out post. It has been a great educational center in my city/town for so long. Even though it's a hidden gem our low income schools could always count on the outpost to help give us an experience like no other, giving us some good learning! They treat the animals like family here. The level of comfort and concern they have for every single creature they care for is so moving. They spend hours on end getting to know them, caring for in so many ways, and spending so much money and efforts to ensure the animals are safe. As a lived all my life Homesteadean if you can call it that, I can say that the outpost is an important organization. When you come by our little city you should take the time to experience the outpost!
Where do I start?! The Outpost is one of the very few true non profit wildlife sanctuaries in South Florida that takes in all types of animals, from the rabies vector animals that no one will take(like raccoons) to the gators that are considered a nuisance by the state. On top of their rehab work, they are also a home to over 100 animals that became unwanted pets after the novelty of having an exotic animal wore off (who buys a zebra to ride them?!). This is all done without any financial support from the STATE OR COUNTY and with only two full time staff members. They rely hugely on volunteers. It might not be the biggest sanctuary but it def packs a punch when it comes to animal welfare and care! They do great things with the limited resources they have :). They also do not breed any of their animals, and take care to offer them the proper diet, toys and medical care.
Everglades outpost and wildlife rehabilitation center is a valuable part of our south Florida community. From educating to rehabbing, they are incredible at what they do.
One of my favorite places in Miami (if not my favorite). From the kindness and caring of the staff to the incredible animals this place is a gem. A must visit in South Florida that will hopefully inspire you to join the movement to be more mindful of our planet and how human actions directly affect these amazing creatures.
best place to visit if you are traveling down south the staff knows exactly what they are doing when it comes to the curating and care of the animals. Its a shame that not many people know about this place its a small safe haven in the middle of the everglades and it makes a nice place to eat lunch since they have a few bench tables in the park and most of the time there is a food truck outside parked i would recommend this to all nature lovers its definitely worth the visit
This place is absolutely beautiful. Upon visiting, you will learn all sorts of information about the conservation of wildlife and fully immerse yourself into nature. This place teaches us how important habitats are and how to respect native wildlife. Really fun for kids and families and big groups too i would highly recommend visiting this place to fully understand our wildlife and if you are a nature lover who just loves to be outdoors this is definitely a place you want to visit ❤️
