Mission: To empower people of color to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights. The mwul envisions a community where people from a wide array of backgrounds and experiences, contribute and benefit from an alliance that is committed to action-oriented public policy research and principled advocacy. The mwul seeks to address the problems of equality and fairness by assuring that those who influence change represent the broader community and understand the economic and social realities facing people of color. The mwul is an affiliate of the national urban league.
Programs: Education and youth initiatives work to ensure that all children are well educated and prepared for economic self-reliance in the 21st century by eliminating the achievement gap between minorities and increasing the graduation rate among african-americans and hispanics.
the mwul operates two auxiliary groups, the mwul guild and young professionals-the goals of the mwul guild are to make communities aware of the mwul's mission and to financially support the mwul through major fund raising events and community projects. -the mwul young professionals are dedicated to supporting movement and serving the local community through social and community activism by empowering young urban professionals ages 21-45 through professional development and community service.
