Mission: The mclean revitalization corporation was established to promote and facilitate the revitalization of the mclean business center (cbc). This involves enhancing the cbc appearance, making it a more pedestrian friendly center of activity, and increasing its economic vitality. This is all in cooperation with the county of fairfax, virginia, through a public-private partnership.
Programs: Revitalization of mclean, virginia: the mrc remained actively engaged in helping to improve the environment for pedestrians and bikers downtown and worked closely with the county department of transportation to finalize designs for a landscaped median and installation of gateway signs at key entrances to the cbc. The mrc oversaw the installation of a bus shelter at a busy bus stop in central mclean. It was active in providing input and expertise into maintenance, transportation and new development projects downtown. It has also been conducting research and public outreach to explore the concept of a business improvement district, in conjunction with the chamber of commerce and other civic groups. Board members also participated in events to educate members of the public about downtown revitalization issues. The mrc continued to work with the county supervisors office and fairfax county agencies to complete the utility undergrounding project in central mclean.
