Mission: The marine exchange of southern california, in partnership with federal / u. S. Coast guard, state and local government agencies, is the leading provider of vessel traffic and maritime information related services in southern california. The marine exchange is a private, nonprofit organization that will continuously work to anticipate and fully meet the maritime information / communications needs and vessel traffic requirements necessary to promote a secure, safe, efficient and environmentally sound maritime transportation system.
Programs: Vessel traffic service user fees billed for each arriving vessel calling the ports of los angeles and long beach. Fees are based on the vts user fee tariff. For the period 7/2014 - 6/2015, approximately 4,355 arrivals were billed.

Various entities affected by the southern california shipping industry subscribe to various reports regarding vessel movements in the ports shown above.
invoicing services, provided to pmsa, for each arriving vessel in the ports of los angeles and long beach. Each vessel is invoiced a voluntary contribution of $100 to support ongoing industry efforts conducted through pmsa. Pmsa pays marine exchange $7 per invoice. For period 7/2014 thru 6/2015, approximately 1,920 arrivals were billed.
project management services for under keel project in the port of long beach. This project will assist pilots to more accurately assess whether a vessel can safely transit into the inner harbor. As project manager, the marine exchange will receive 15% of the total project costs. The project began in august 2014 and is expected to complete sometime in the first quarter of 2017.
