Programs: Lutheran homes society, inc. Is the not-for-profit parent corporation of subsidiaries that provide residential care and supportive services for youth and elderly. As a faith-based provider of such services, lutheran homes society continues to honor its 148 year mission to extend its services to the vulnerable of our population. (see schedule o for additional info) lutheran homes society overview lutheran homes society, established in 1860, today serves youth and elderly in northwestern ohio and southeastern michigan in various settings. Youth are served through community-based residential treatment group homes, supportive services for youth and their families, and an asperger's program consisting of both residential and day treatment programs. The elderly are served in independent living, assisted living, and extended care residential settings located on four campuses. Additionally, independent living apartments for the elderly are located in twelve communities throughout our service area. Lutheran homes society also serves the community through service coordination, which assists the elderly in accessing needed services, thereby enabling them to continue living in independent settings. Direct services are provided through facilities located in bucyrus, fremont, gibsonburg, holland, liberty center, lima, millbury, oak harbor, oregon, napoleon, new london, norwalk, sandusky, toledo, and whitehouse, ohio, and bedford township in michigan. In 2010, 2,530 individuals were served at total of 495,491 resident days. Our lincs program (lutheran interfaith network of caring services) provided noncompensated services to 787 clients in 2010, thereby assisting them in obtaining services to allow them to continue to live independently. The lincs program is a totally benevolent ministry to the community. In total, all of lutheran homes society ministries provided 530,790 in charitable care in 2010 and provided an additional 3,167,263 in community benefit. These dollars include community benefit for those unreimbursed from medicaid. Lutheran homes society and its subsidiaries have always been exemplary providers of compassionate, quality care to those we serve, but we are also committed to improving and contributing to the communities in which we live and work. In addition to the residents and clients served directly, a wide variety of broad community support activities contribute to the accomplishment of lutheran homes society's tax-exempt purpose.
