Mission: The mission of Bethany House is to recognize and respond to the ever-changing needs of domestic violence victims and their children by providing:
Safe, Long-Term Transitional Shelter;
Time for Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Healing;
and Social Services through Collaboration with other Community Organizations.
Results: Since 1984, Bethany House has provided over 300,000 nights of safe shelter to over 2,000 individuals - providing hope and healing to domestic violence victims.
Target demographics: We serve all victims of domestic violence, regardless of gender or orientation, and all Bethany House services are provided free of charge.
Geographic areas served: Northwest Ohio
Programs: The physical signs of domestic abuse may heal quickly but the emotional and psychological recovery takes time. Bethany House provides safe long-term transitional shelter and advocacy to victims of domestic violence and their children. In addition to safe, stable housing, Bethany House provides emotional support and financial resources, and gives survivors the time needed to rebuild their lives. Our goal is to reduce feelings of isolation and shame, and empower survivors to take control of their futures.
Professional with expertise in this field
I have worked as a social worker for many years working with women who have experienced domestic violence. Bethany House has been a haven for these women and their children. They provide safe, caring shelter and access to resources so these women can get a fresh start. The agency allows women to have an apartment of their own and allows for a length of stay that is long enough to accomplish their goals. With a garden and safe play area outdoors and a good school district for the kids, moms don't have to worry about their kids having a good adjustment. I would highly recommend Bethany House if the need arises in a woman's life.
This is one of the few organizations I have worked with that is truly mission driven. The leadership and administration are commited to serving domestic violence victims and their children with compassion while staying current with best practices in the field. They make a conscious effort to be good stewards of the diminishing resources available. The staff goes above and beyond to support the clients.
