Mission: Lowell community health center (www. Lchealth. Org) (lowell chc) serves individuals from throughout greater lowell, with the majority living in the city of lowell. Many lowell chc patients are medically underserved and low income, with 45% best served in a language other than english. In 2017, lowell chc provided 261,361 visits to 28,810 patients and touched the lives of nearly 50,000 people through health care, community health screening and education, hiv services, youth programming, and linkage to essential community services. The lowell chc has achieved joint commission accreditation and level 3 patient-centered medical home recognition for complying with rigorous national performance standards that promote quality health care delivery.
Programs: . Primary care: 81,764 visits in 2017. Lowell community health center offers adult and family medicine and pediatrics with a commitment to quality, culturally appropriate care. To that end, we provide certified medical interpretation in more than 28 languages. Medical specialties include podiatry and neurology. Lowell chc also offers comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology services with care provided by doctors and midwives who have delivery privileges at lowell general hospital. With a strong commitment to cultural competency, lowell chc understands the importance of coordinating health care among different medical providers. We help patients find specialists, set up appointments, and make sure each medical provider has all the information he or she needs to provide care that meets individual needs. Lowell chc is open six days a week, including saturday and evening hours. The annual wraparound fund provides needed philanthropic support for services not covered by insurance but vital to the health and well- being of our patients, including certified medical translation and interpretation; community health screenings; youth programming, and linkages to local housing, food, jobs, child care, health insurance and other community supports.
metta health center: 13,524 visits in 2017. "metta" means loving kindness in the buddhist pali language. The health center is one of the nation's first fully integrated east-meets-west health care facilities, with a focus on lowell's significant southeast asian and other refugee populations. Services include primary medical care for all ages using a family medicine model, chronic disease management, nutrition counseling, mental health services, traditional healing advice, acupuncture, massage therapy, social services, meditation, health education and referrals. Metta's staff members are bilingual and bicultural. Metta's unique team-based behavioral health services model acknowledges the importance of cultural beliefs and pairs a bicultural mental health specialist with a licensed mental health clinician and, if needed, a psychiatrist or a psychiatric nurse practitioner. As the region's only refugee health assessment center, metta assures that refugees receive health screening and treatment within 30 days of arrival.

Lowell chc offers a wide range of behavioral health services designed to provide care and promote wellness for mental health issues and/or addiction, with a commitment to cultural diversity, clinical excellence, and behavior health care integrated with primary care services. A team of bicultural, bilingual, experienced clinicians provide treatment for children, adolescents and adults through individual, group, couple, and family therapy sessions. Experienced mental health professionals and certified addiction counselors work to identify individual needs and develop long-term goals. Psychopharmacology (mental health drug therapy) is an additional service offered to clients.
