I adopted my new buddy Milo last month. He is the best, everything I wanted. Milo is so loving, affectionate, playful. I am so happy I have him. The adoption process was very easy.

I have volunteered at the Lowell Humane Society for the last five years. I've never met a group of more dedicated, loving, and caring people. They treat each animal that comes in as if it were their own. They do so much with so little. They receive no government funding and rely most on private donations to do what they do. Lowell is one of the largest cities in Massachusetts, as well. I am part of a team devoted to enriching the lives of shelter dogs, but there's also a "task force" for the small animals and the cats as well. The kennel is small (16 kennels total) and the staff and volunteers work so hard to enrich and help the dogs while they are there. One of the best things I ever did was decide to volunteer at this shelter, and I truly feel as though the employees and volunteers there are like a second family.

I have volunteered at several animal shelters but I have never worked with a more dedicated and caring group of people than at this shelter. The animals are loved and well cared for despite the fact that the shelter is small and not nearly as financially well off as some of the others that I've seen.

The volunteers are wonderful and the staff are equally caring. Any financial help that they can get to help the animals that they love would be greatly appreciated.

I work with a breed-specific cat rescue group which occasionally helps LHS when they have an overflow of cats.
The cats I have taken to foster are always well prepared with records and medical care. The staff is pleasant, helpful and efficient to work with.
If I run out of specialty breed cats, I will definitely volunteer to help LHS with their out-fostering of cats.

I work at one of the veterinary hospitals that performs early spay/neuters on the kittens for LHS. I have always been impressed with the professionalism and dedicaton of the staff there. I then promptly fell in love with one of the fluffy critters that visited us and am further thankful to them for connecting me with our new cat

The staff and volunteers at this shelter are amazing. They treat the animals with care and love and it shows. The animals at this shelter are among the most well adjusted and healthiest I've seen. It is a small shelter and survives on donations, fund raisers and volunteers.

They are the best!

Amanda was very patient in letting me interact with a number of cats so that I could find one that would be at home with our family. Halibut was a year old stray who was a bit timid but seemed very lovable. I spent nearly an hour getting to know her and asked if I could bring my daughter in to meet her. Later that week my daughter came in and spent some quiet time getting to know Halibut and we knew we'd found our kitty! Never once did we feel rushed to make a choice. It was obvious that Halibut and the other animals were well cared for; the shelter is clean, the cats all have fresh water and soft blankets. The cats are neutered/spayed, have their shots and are micro chipped! Since adopting Halibut we've seen our vet who said she was in very good health and at a perfect weight. Our family is very happy with our newest member and we are even thinking of adding another kitty--and of course we will be going back to Lowell Humane Society!

Just an amazing group of people! We adopted our puppy through their facility and the process couldn't have been smoother. They were excellent about answering emails and calls in a timely fashion, kept us up to date on our puppy's birth and growth, and were wonderfully warm in person. The facility itself was clean and well cared for. Thumbs up all around!

If you have a cat and are considering bringing a second one into your home, the Lowell Humane Society is the place to go. I've always wanted a second cat but was worried about how my cat would react to the whole situation.  we decided to give it a try and recently brought a second cat into the home. The staff at the Lowell Humane Society has gone above and beyond to make sure that things are working out. They have been there with tons of advice and guidance throughout the process and they've answered my endless list of questions with a lot of patience. It's still early in the process, but with all the help from the Lowell Humane Society I have no doubt that things will work out between the two cats!
I can't say enough about the Lowell Humane Society and how much they are committed to making sure the animals find the right homes and that everyone is happy.

My Fiance and I went in not sure what we were looking for but knew it would be a small animal. They let us sit with many cats and when we finally found the one. They helped us with all the steps needed to adopt our (little) guy. He even loves to help me wrap Christmas presents. Especially if there is tissue paper involved. We fell in love with LHS that we even started volunteering there!!!

This Humane society may be small in size, but it is BIG in heart. The staff and volunteers are truly giving of themselves and care so very much about the animals they take care of!! I have been a volunteer for over two years now and I have met so many amazing people and made friendships that will last a lifetime! I'm attaching a picture of my boy Keeno, who was the longest resident in 2014 at the shelter after he was found tied to a pole overnight. He required extensive medical care and attention and the staff and volunteers worked very hard to keep this boy adoptable! This is one example of many stories similar! They are the best!

When I moved to Lowell almost 2 years ago, I wanted to get involved in the community. The first place I called was the Lowell Humane Society. Not knowing anybody in the area can be a little nerve-wracking but I went ahead and became a volunteer. From the moment I stepped foot into LHS, I could tell that all of the people there LOVED helping the animals and did the absolute best they could. The staff is incredibly dedicated to the care and welfare of the animals. The volunteers are also committed to helping the staff make LHS the best, too! Over the course of the two years that I've been there, I've made many friends and become a part of a very supportive and caring family. In addition, I now have 2 beautiful new additions to my family courtesy of LHS! Thumbs up!

Lowell Humane Society is truly a gift to animals in need of a new home. I've been a volunteer with them for nearly 4 years now, so I've been able to see, from the inside, just how hard they work to provide what each animal needs, promote them, and match them to adopters. I've seen them celebrate the success stories and cry for the few who just didn't make it. Animals are expertly cared for in every possible way: basic needs, enrichment, training based on methodical assessment rather than guesswork. Staff training is ongoing, and volunteers are given opportunities to improve their knowledge and skills. The volunteer group is remarkable too! It never ceases to amaze me what everyone is willing to step up and do to help out. I love supporting this organization with my time, talent (I am a nationally certified dog trainer), and treasure and confidently encourage others to do the same.
