Mission: Long island fqhc is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, or scientific purposes in that it will provide expanded health care service to medically underserved communities in the state of ny regardless of a patient's insurance status or ability to pay by establishing, maintaining, and operating in conjunction with nassau health care corporation, a public benefit corporation created by the state of ny, diagnostic and treatment centers related to the provision of preventive and primary health care services, related enabling and ancillary services and other critical community and social services relating to health education, community outreach, environmental health services, nutritional services, oral health services, and behavioral services.
Programs: Long island federally-qualified health centers ("lifqhc") is a non-profit, consumer driven organization created to help address the health needs of the region's most vulnerable populations and to improve the quality and availability of preventive and primary care in nassau county's medically-underserved communities. Lifqhc provides the following services: pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, family medicine, dental, nutritional counseling, social counseling, family planning, std testing and treatment, podiatry, radiology and other critical community and social services relating to health education, community outreach, and environmental health services. During 2013, lifqhc had 30,823 charity care visits, 11,338 medicaid patients and 919 medicare patients. The total amount of charity care provided was approximately $5,665,000.
