Mission: The mission of the Living Coast Discovery Center is to: • Partner in collaborative research and restoration of coastal wetlands and bays. • Provide student-focused education through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEaM). • Increase knowledge of coastal environments, climate change adaptation, and human coexistence with the natural resources of San Diego Bay.
Results: Since 1987, the Living Coast Discovery Center has provided a living interpretive experience while promoting coastal resource conservation and environmental stewardship through education. Accredited by the American Association of Museums, it is home to internationally recognized exhibits of plants and animals native to coastal, bay, and wetland habitats. Annually, the Living Coast welcomes over 75,000 visitors including 15,000 school children and up to 1,000 day campers who explore more than 30 interactive exhibits.

Programs: Science without Boundaries, an education initiative, focusing on K-12 students to provide field trips, educational day camps, and outreaches for children throughout San Diego County.
