Causes: Adult Education, Education
Mission: Established in 1972, Literacy DuPage is a community-based, non-profit, organization. In DuPage County there are over 90,000 residents with limited English proficiency and approximately 50,000 residents with less than a 9th grade education or who have some high school education but no diploma. Literacy DuPage provides free, accessible and customized tutoring services to these low-literacy adults through trained volunteer tutors.
Results: Last year, we served 469 adult learners through more than 360 trained volunteer tutors who gave more than 25,000 hours to our program.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 469 Adult Learners through one-on-one English tutoring and another 500 adults through free conversation groups at local libraries and fee-based workplace education.

Programs: free, accessible and customized one-one-one tutoring to adults who need assistance in reading, writing, speaking and understanding English.
