Causes: Health, Organ & Tissue Banks
Mission: The organization is dedicated to the recovery, evaluation and distribution of ocular tissue for transplantation, research and education.
Programs: Eye tissue procurement & processing - 6,355 eyes were recovered; 5,242 were recovered for transplant intent; 1,113 eyes were used in research. Of the tissues placed both domestically and internationally for transplant surgery, central florida lions eye & tissue bank provided gratis and reduced fee tissue in the amount of $784,500.
public & professional education - increased awareness of need for tissue procurement with long term goal of increasing the number of donors.
