Programs: Child and family development - community action's head start programs provide comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income children and their families. Both early head start, serving pregnant women and children ages birth to 3, and head start, serving children ages 3 to 5, ensure that enrolled children receive adequate nutrition, medical and dental care, social/emotional engagement interventions appropriate to their age, and a developmentally appropriate education. The programs also place substantial emphasis on the involvement of parents/guardians in the lives of their children through home visits, parent leadership councils, and social events. Head start programs ensure that some of our community's neediest children receive the care and education necessary to meet their developmental milestones, are ready to enter school, and are prepared for a lifetime of productive learning. In fiscal year 2014, 295 children were served through the early head start program and 796 children were served through the head start program.
community services - community action's vision for a healthy, vibrant, and inclusive community motivates us to offer numerous vital services to the community at large. Among these services is the state of nebraska's only tenant support services program, which provides education, mediation, and advocacy for both landlords and tenants with the aim of eviction prevention, free tax preparation, and a professional interpretation and translation service. In fiscal year 2014, 17,805 participants received services through the community services programs.
homeless prevention program - community action's program to help homeless and near-homeless individuals secure safe and affordable housing, and provide case management interventions designed to keep them in stable housing long-term.
