Mission: The primary exempt purpose of lhs housing, inc. Is to extend the caring ministry of jesus through residential and supportive services to the vulnerable population of elderly. These services include assisting in providing for elderly and/or families and persons on a nonprofit basis, rental housing and related facilities and services specially designed to meet the physical, social and psychological needs of the elderly, and contribute to their health, security, happiness and usefulness and longer living. Lutheran homes society, inc. , the parent corporation of lhs housing promotes and facilitates the charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes for which it has received tax exemption, by providing lhs housing with benefits and services to support the ministry, including but not limited to: providing executive management in terms of supervision, strategic planning, policy formulation, and advocacy; engaging in activities intended to assist lhs housing directly or indirectly
Programs: Lhs housing is a not-for-profit organization that provides residential care and supportive services for the elderly. As a faith-based provider of such service, lhs housing continues to honor its mission to extend its services to the vulnerable of our population, specifically elderly. We demonstrate behaviors reflecting our core values of faithfulness to christ, equality and justice, wholeness of life, integrity, quality of service, and stewardship of resources. Lhs housing overview lhs housing services has developed communities that offer affordable housing to people who are age 62 and older. Each community provides opportunities for recreational and religious programs, social events, outings, and daily peer contact. Lhs housing is committed to helping residents maintain their independence and, at each of the communities, a service coordinator is on site to assist residents in procuring meals, home health care, housekeeping, etc. , all which help in maintaining one's independence. In 2010, lhs housing provided independent living apartments for 850 elders for a total of 257,286 resident days. Lhs housing, as part of the many ministries of lutheran homes society, has always been an exemplary provider of compassionate, quality care to those we serve, but we are also committed to improving and contributing to the community in which we live and work. In addition to the residents and clients served directly, a wide variety of broad community support activities contribute to the accomplishment of our tax-exempt purpose.
