Positive Legacy is one of the only nonprofits out there utilizing their shared interest in music as a platform to do good in the world. With their combined expertise as event industry and nonprofit professionals - and their collective passion for sustainability - Positive Legacy brings new perspective to identifying environmental and humanitarian urgencies in underserved communities. They’ve grown tremendously over the past decade and they are certainly a nonprofit to watch in the coming years as they help one another and our Mother Earth.
Positive Legacy does wonderful work supporting environmental and humanitarian projects in the US, Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. They provide a wide range of opportunities to be engaged at the destination and US based music events they support. Their impact has been broad and beneficial to a variety of causes over their years of operation. Plus, they are a whole lot of fun as well!
Exemplary group of hard-working, dedicated people bringing compassion, connection, service and fun wherever they go.
Amazing people doing great work!
Each year they raise money and give grants to small organizations and communities in need.
Diverting financial privilege back into communities needing support both in the US, Mexico and the Caribbean.
If you're looking for organizations that serve environmental and humanitarian causes in the music and events industry, look no further than Leaving A Positive Legacy. What started as a grassroots sustainability initiative for a single event is now a year-round philanthropic powerhouse that raised over a million dollars for charities throughout North and Central America and the Caribbean.
Leaving a Positive Legacy has been a part of so many wonderful campaigns to help so many people. During the pandemic, the non-profit pivoted to support musicians and their teams in a time that they were getting hit the hardest. Proud to be a part of the organization and always excited to hear about new campaigns and what is next.
It's beyond rewarding to get to serve on the Board of Directors for this amazing organization! Positive Legacy checks all the boxes for me when it comes to benefitting people and the environment fueled by the power of music. I am as involved as I can be and look forward to how we make waves this season!!
Getting to work on the ground with Positive Legacy is like a dream come true! Integrating music and service is the best way to spend time on a destination vacation...making a difference AND getting to see your favorite band! I look forward to when we all get to do this again...and I'm sending love and light to all of the communities Positive Legacy serves during these unprecedented times!!
Great group that connects music fans with the local areas/organizations where the shows happen. Love their work in Mexico at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya!
I have been familiar with Positive legacy since the spring of 2013 and have been hooked ever since! Music and philanthropy is such an important and powerful combination. Their motto of One World United Through Music is a great stance to get behind and a fantastic example of how we can all have fun AND give back too.
Positive Legacy is a non-profit giving back to communities worldwide as well as locally, and building lasting relationships with the areas and people that they serve. I have witnessed their dedication in person at many of the music events they partner with, where they provide on site support to the community, in the form of days of service, donations like school supplies and personal care items, and building camaraderie with locals and guests alike. PL is one of the only non profits out there doing what they do. They are amazing!!!
The name truly aligns with the organization's mission and their impact: Leaving a Positive Legacy. I've had the pleasure of following PL's efforts for years. Through this time PL has helped to construct much-needed schools, plant numerous trees, remove thousands of pounds of trash from nature, generate funds to support industry works impacted by Covid, and bring thousands of people together and unite through music. The impact of their work is impressive and the team & volunteers behind it are authentically mission-driven.
Leaving a Positive Legacy's name describes this organization to a T. PL truly does whatever it takes to make a difference in lives through the power of music. I've had the pleasure of seeing first hand the results of their labors. From building schools, to saving turtles, to planting trees, to generating funds for gig workers during Covid... their efforts are tireless. And at the same time incorporating live music and destination vacations into the mix.
I can't say enough positive things about Leaving a Positive Legacy.
Positive Legacy fills your heart while immersing yourself in diverse and rich cultural communities. My personal journey through this organization as a board member has fulfilled my soul, given me the access to truly connect with local people in need and has given me the opportunity to connect people on their vacations with necessary projects with communities that can use a little love. I think providing you with a personal story would be the best way to express my experiences with this nonprofit.
My first Jam Cruise as a board member, the first year Positive Legacy became an organization, we visited Belize. The non profit we visited for our Day of Service was the Monkey Sanctuary that had an after school program that focuses on teaching kids music, specifically with handcrafted hand drums. I happen to have an old pair of congas and brought them down to donate to the program. Emmitt the instructor and myself met at the Day of Service. I personally presented the congas to him and a tear rolled down his eyes. You have to understand that all the drums were hand carved Djembe style drums and he said as a lifelong drummer, he always wanted congas but didn't have access to them. We jammed with members of Leftover Salmon and others together that day. 8 years later we went back to Belize. Emmitt showed up at our Day of Service in a different location. Handed me a homemade little hand drum djembe. We hugged each other again. This time a tear was brought to my eyes.
I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering with Positive Legacy for many years now. The organization does an incredible job creating authentic and lasting relationships with the communities they support. When I donate to Positive Legacy I know they are making a lasting positive impact on the environment and on humanity as a whole.
Positive Legacy uses music as a platform to make effective improvements to the environment and communities in need. They are able to efficiently delegate resources to ensure maximum benefits to the recipients. I was able to be a part of their all natural waste water treatment project in Veron, Dominican Republic which used funds raised at the destination events in Punta Cana, DR to build a natural system to filter and provide clean water to over 150 families in a community that did not have a sewage system.
I first learned of this organization when I went on Cloud 9's One Big Holiday Music Festival in the Dominican Republic. I see a LOT of music, and was surprised to find Positive Legacy, an organization that works within these events to help those natives in the resort areas, as well as other musical, environmental and community causes. I was so impressed by their organization that I volunteered immediately, and have significantly donated to Positive Legacy. During Covid they have even provided additional funding for workers in the music industry. They do so much with so little.
I was inspired to develop the first Positive Legacy service project back in 2004 when we planted trees at a elementary school in Nassau during the maiden voyage of Jam Cruise. As the years went by and we developed a number of service projects for live music events, more and more people got involved and showed up to do the work and to be of service...music fans, artists, partner organizations, volunteers and local community members. The power of Positive Legacy is its ability to touch people at their core and to bring them together to create positive change in the world...one world united through music!
It has been cool to see the impact of this Organization grow through the years. In the early years, Positive Legacy might rally music fans from a festival to go out and paint the exterior of a rural school. Now, they might be going out to BUILD a rural school. If you're a live music fan, Positive Legacy allows you to channel some of the energy that comes with shows into service.
Love all the work this organization does, the community they have developed, the people they have enriched, the improvements they have made on the environment, and so much more. The work they do speaks to their name as they truly are Leaving a Positive Legacy.
