Mission: Provide settings for student leaders to interact with adult christian leaders.
Programs: Work in the former soviet union: there was much activity with young people in the youth cores and leaders of business and government in the former soviet union in the past year. In october 2017, we had a core meeting for 100 disciples from 6 cities in russia, ukraine, kazakhstan, armenia and azerbaijan in krasnodar, russia. We dedicated a million dollar leadership center there that will house 10 core families, work with orphans, young people and the poor, and be a place of welcoming business and political leadership from this city of 1. 5 million in southern russia. That same month, the young leaders in moscow hosted a young professionals prayer breakfast for 500 young business leaders. It included spiritual inspiration and practical seminars on business ethics, and marketplace influence for jesus christ. It was their second major event in 2017. We had 61 russians and 52 ukrainians at the national prayer breakfast in washington in february. Among the russians, 40 were young business and professional people for which we hosted 6 meetings with key political and business leaders from the u. S. It was a wonderful experience for many of them. In may, we hosted 170 youth core people at a 5 day discipleship conference at a resort on the mediterranean sea in turkey. We do this every 4 years. We taught the principles of jesus, had marriage and family seminars, spiritual growth seminars, small groups, and each youth core presented a video of their ministries. We celebrated 23 years that month of may since these were established at a conference of 300 young people from all 15 nations of the former ussr in omsk, western siberia in 1995. It has been quite an adventure as we watched these 10 cores grow from 3 to 12 to 70 to hundreds just like in the gospel times. Later in may, the ukrainian parliament small group hosted the 7th annual ukrainian national prayer breakfast for 700 people in kiev at the former communist peoples' hall. The ukrainian president, prime minister and speaker of the parliament were all in attendance and spoke as did u. S. Congressman, louie gohmert, republican, texas.
prayer breakfasts: approximately 1,600 people from washington, including elected officials and students, attended breakfasts in olympia, seattle, and washington dc to pray for the city, state, and nation and to consider the leadership model of jesus.
washington state leadership forum: in february 2018 aproximately 85 college students/young professionals and 50 business/community leaders met to listen to speakers, attend seminars, and make relational connections. This event is held in conjunction with the governor's prayer breakfast. Jesus-centered leadership and mentoring relationships were the focus. Washington weekend (now called the weekend): an intergenerational, multicultural gathering of people from across washington state, oregon, los angeles, jackson, mississippi, and beyond. Held over labor day weekend at washington family ranch in central oregon, nearly 500 people attended. This event is 3 nights/4 days and includes speakers, seminars, and an assortment of recreational activities. Seattle leadership forum: this was a one-day event for 75 college students/young professionals and 25 mentors. Participants attended the seattle-king county prayer breakfast, joined a local business leader for lunch, and served the homeless and other populations through the union gospel mission.
centered. Org: is a tool under construction to help center the lives of people in the professional world on the story and teachings of jesus. It does so through storytelling and events. Discipling women in leadership: this program is focused on equipping and encouraging women to grow deeper in their faith, and to live out that faith in every aspect of their lives. The "women's fellows" is a nine month post- graduate intensive discipleship program, and "women discipling women" is a bi-annual gathering of women which connects, equips and encourages these women in discipleship. An additional aspect of discipling women in leadership is offering prayer support to the increasing number of female civic leaders in our state. New generation: a student-led ministry designed to reach high school students with the message, person, and love of jesus christ through student-led clubs meeting on campus after school. The clubs are active throughout high schools in king county.
