Mission: Langley main street association's purpose is to preserve and sustain the small historic downtown character of langley and is committed to historic preservation, lessening the burden on city government, collaboration with like minded entities and community education. Lmsa is based on the approach of the national main street program and washington state main street program under the department of archeology and historic preservation.
Programs: Langley mainstreet projects are:1. City hall edible gardenlangley city hall sports peas, beans, and tomatoes. But thats not all, the edible garden design included whimsical sculpture, an inviting, bright bench, along with raised beds and planted plants that provide year-round interest. 2. Hanging baskets & downtown landscapingdedicated to creating beautiful gardens and landscaping, langley main streets mission is to showcase langley as a garden town and invite tourists and locals to enjoy the bounty. 3. 2nd street rain garden & bump-outs2nd streets rain garden redesign was awarded the green community award at the washington main streets excellence on main awards ceremony in 2016 at the states preservation and main street conference. 4. Summer internship opportunitieslangley main street provides an opportunity for college students to work outdoors, garden, and earn money during the summer months. 5. Free summer shuttlethe electric shuttle provides passengers a free ride on the weekends from the marina to downtown, sharing information about langley with visitors. 6. 1st & 2nd street bannersbanner poles were purchased and placed on the main downtown streets for banners that highlight and promote the different events and features in town throughout the year. 7. Downtown buildings history plaqueslook for plaques on downtown buildings and learn the origin and the early pioneers who helped build langley. 8. Frick lane history walkfrick lanes history walk was awarded the visual impact award at the washington main streets excellence on main awards ceremony on april 25, 2017 in ellensburg at the states preservation and main street conference. 9. Marina history displaysten panels installed in summer of 2017 along the wharf at the langley harbor explaining the history of the area. 10. Funding support for non-profitsproviding grants to organizations with a mission to promote and enhance langley as a lively place to visit for the arts and education.
