Mission: The primary purpose of krewe du sauvage is to celebrate, promote and conduct activities relating directly and indirectly to mardi gras season, including but not limited to parades, balls, festivities, ceremonies and events in the city of lake charles, louisiana. In addition, the organization maintains membership in krewe of krewe's, inc. And participates in the activities sponsored by mardi gras of southwest louisiana.
Programs: Annual mardi gras ball - this is our biggest krewe event of the year. This is a private and fromal affair and is attended by members and thier guests. At this event, we celebrate the start of the current mardi gras season and present our current year royal court including our king and queen and four duckes and duchesses.
mardi gras parades - our krewe participates in three parades, krewe of krewes parade, childrens parade and the second line stroll. Members ride on our float or walk the designated parade routes made by madi gras of swla.
mardi gras of swla world famous cajun extravaganza and gumbo cook-off - our krewe enters three to four teams each year in various categories including, amateur chicken and sausage, amateur wild game, professional wil game and professional seafood. Each team will make a gumbo to be judged and then served to all attendees. This event is also the spirit competition event where each krewe is judged on their mardi gras spirit.
fall social - this is a krewe only "meet and greet" event for new members of our krewe to meet the old members of our krewe. Family day - this event is held at bord du lac park which is adjacent to the parade route strting point. This event allows our children to socialize with other krewe members children before the start of the children's parade. Community service projects - these are various events throughout the year. We parade at a nursing home and provide king cake to the residents. We ring the bell for the salvation army in front of walmart. We also have donated to st nicholas center for autism and the women's shelter.
