Kotor Kitties

With the help of Kotor Kitties I was able to help in controlling cat population and neutering in Herceg Novi area.

I attended Trade School in Kotor many years ago. Kotor and sounding area always had too many sick looking Kitties. Kotor Kitties Organization with its donors made a difference, so today there are fewer Kitties and they are very healthy looking. Please continue donating to this worty cause.

Without this Charity the suffering of the famous cats and kittens of Kotor would be impossible to witness. Not only are they using trap, neuter and release to control the sheer number of homeless kittens they are also helping to vaccinate them.

Wir waren dieses Jahr in Montenegro und sibd zufällig auf Danijelas Sovenirshop Kotor cats gestoßen, in dem auch mehrere Katzen in Körbchen und Kisten lagen. Da wir Katzen lieben und das Leid der Tiere auf den Straßen Montenegros nicht zu übersehen ist, sind wir mit Danijela ins Gespräch gekommen, haben handgemachte Souvenirs von ihr gekauft und für Kotor Kitties gespendet. Absolut bewundernswerte Menschen, die für diese Herzensangelegenheit kämpfen!

Vielen, vielen Dank für die großartige Hilfe! :) April hat mir so sehr geholfen meine im Urlaub gefundene Katze Katinka aufzupäppeln und alle notwendigen Schritte umzusetzen, dass sie bald über die Grenze bis zu uns nach Österreich darf. Man merkt, dass in diesen Projekt sehr viel Herz steckt und April keine Zeit, Mühen und Kosten scheut, denn bei ihr stehen wirklich einfach nur die Katzen im Vordergrund. Ich bin so unendlich dankbar, ohne sie und Kotor Kitties wäre das nicht möglich gewesen ������������������♥️

Als ich im Oktober 2023 in Montenegro Urlaub machte, stieß ich auf eine Gruppe unkastrierter und kranker Katzen in der Nähe meiner Unterkunft. Ich suchte online nach einer Tierschutzorganisation, die hier und mir helfen könnte und stieß dabei auf Kotor Kitties. In Windeseile erhielt ich Rückmeldung und Hilfestellung. Da ich selbst im Tierschutz aktiv bin war schnell ein Plan geschmiedet. Ich erhielt Adressen und Equipment, Kontaktpersonen und eine Anleitung und innerhalb von einer Woche waren einige Tiere gefangen, kastriert und versorgt. Besonders schön war aber, dass ich auch nach meiner Abreise immer wieder Updates "meiner Katzengruppe" erhielt, da sie nach wie vor einem Volunteer von Kotor Kitties betreut wurde.

Kotor Kitties is the only official organization in Montenegro that helps stray cats in this country. They are real heroes and heroins. I wish I could donate more to support their deeds and tremendous amount of effort they put into making life of strays more bearable. Thanks Kotor Kitties for giving care to those who is the most vulnerable in this country.

I'm very grateful for the service that Kotor Kitties provides. I live in an area where there are cats breeding all over the place. When one turned up on my doorstep and decided this was going to be her new home, I didn't want the same situation where I would eventually be looking after 6, 10, 15, or 20 cats. As we all know, it's an ongoing battle! I'm very grateful that Kotor Kitties was able to attend to my little girl, and I couldn't believe the whole operation was over and done with in around 30 minutes. Thank you Kotor Kitties for the service you provide in helping to make Montenegro more controlled in an out-of-control situation.

I've just started working with KK and can tell right off the bat that this is a truly dedicated organization. I'm nothing short of impressed, and I've worked with many animal rescue orgs over the years.

Dooing very good and needed work for all the cats in Kotor. Their program of neutering the cats benefits the animal population and reduces smell from cat urinatinon.

I can't believe that such a non-profit organization can really exist, because in the country where I come from, our furry friends are just for to sponge on them. Well done Kotor Kitties, we can't thank you enough.

I believe that this organization is doing an excellent long-term work that otherwise would not be done.

Many homeless and feral cats are living in cat colonies. These cats are especially vulnerable to starvation, disease, suffering and death. But by working with TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) the number of kittens born into homelessness can be reduced.

Kotor Kitties has built a long-term and sustainable castration program, specifically designed for Montenegro's needs and conditions. Kotor Kitties has also developed a formal TNR program to teach trapping techniques that reduce stress on trapped cats and increase safety for both the cat and the cat catcher. There is good cooperation with a number of veterinarians who work in the area, and who undertake to castrate even stray or feral cats, and with specialized and humane methods.

Cats from the colonies are caught with a cat trap by volunteers and then taken directly to one of the affiliated veterinary clinics. During anesthesia, the vet takes care of simpler problems, such as ingrown claws, amputation of a damaged tail, treatment of ear mites and/or simple tooth extractions to allow the cats to eat without difficulty. The cats are permanently marked (cut in the tip of the ear) so that they will not be caught a second time. Healthy adult cats that are too feral are returned to their familiar habitats (=TNR), and are often under the long-term care of volunteers who feed these cats.

Kotor Kitties is an amazing organization staffed entirely by volunteers from all over the world. They are dedicated to helping homeless cats and dogs in Montenegro through a spay/neuter/vaccine program.

My favorite charity helping cats in need of spay and neuter in Montenegro. We have a serious problem with overpopulation and our TNR program is making a major difference in our local cat population.

Kotor Kitties has an innovative approach to abandoned animals in Montenegro. Thousands of cats were saved with free castrations provided by this organisation. The Government of Montenegro does not care too much about stray animals nor has any specific programs for resolving this issue. For that reason thousands of animals do not have any care and die on the streets.
Kotor Kitties helped me in the most difficult time of my life, when I was unemployed, and with mother cat with two kittens who came to my backyard out of nowhere seeking for help. They were sick and malnourished. All needed to be treated and spayed. Kotor Kittens offered me their free neutering program for stray cats. This way my three cats were sterilized. The mother cat even had a heart disease and needed a special type of anesthesia during sterilisation . All that was provided by Kotor Kitties and dr Relja Cetkovic. I am grateful to Mrs. April King and Kotor Kittis for giving me the necessary help when I needed it most.
I think that the actions of this organization can influence the entire mindset of citizens, as well as their representatives in local and state government.

I'm from the USA. I'm planning to move to Montenegro in 2023. I've always had an interest in cats and in my adult life I've always owned/parented a cat. Kotor Kitties provides valuable services to cats and the community as a whole. Controlling the cat population in Montenegro helps the cats that remain to be better respected and taken care of. If/when I move to Montenegro I hope to become more actively involved with the organization.

I heard of Kotor Kitties when I traveled to Kotor for the first time in 2018. I checked out their website and found that they diligently carry out their mission of using TNR to reduce unwanted cat population and have already spayed/ neutered thousands of stray cats in a few short years. These are the amazing results of many tireless volunteers and a few competent and ethical vets.
When I traveled to Kotor for the second time in 2021, I found a kitten who was in dire need of help. When I reached out to Kotor Kitties, a local volunteer responded immediately and gave me advice and assistance to the kitten. In the process I have spoke to the local volunteers, and I have seen the work that is being done there with my own eyes. So I can say that Kotor Kitties really exists, and it is doing a tremendous job of helping the cats in need and preventing the unwanted kittens being born. Now they are also starting to introduce a vaccination program to give the kittens the life-saving protection to a few deadly diseases. This organization and its amazing work is well-worth supporting.

Setajuci Kotorom ovog ljeta primjetila sam da su macke mnogo ljepse, zdravije i buckaste u odnosu na 2014 godinu, kada sam takodje tuda ljetovala...
Raspitala sam se zasto je to tako i objasnili su mi da se ova organizacija postarala da ih sterilise i lijeci.
Razlika je ogromna! Imate osjecaj da je svaka maca " necija".

A great team helped improve the situation with abandoned cats in Kotor. Their dedication, love, and care for cats are touching, and all of us who live in Kotor love cats and animals and are infinitely grateful to them.

I am very greatfull and thakfull that our comunity have such professionals as Kotor kitties and they are making a differance in a good way in many neighbourhoods.

Kotor kitties Is the only charity that is helping for more than 4 years to spay and neuter Montenegro stray cats as the government of Montenegro and many locals doesn't neither see that has a problem with overpopulation of stray animals in Montenegro. Unfortunately streets are full of abandoned cats and dogs and with their dead body. It's so awful to live in this conditions.

In a country where cats from the street need so much help, this is an amazing nonprofit doing concrete actions for the cats there. I am a French person which visited montenegro and I was shoked by the misery of stray cats everywhere in Montenegro. When I needed help with some baby cats I found it was a relief to know Kottor Kitties existed. I want to thank them once again for existing ans helping change situation for the cats of Montenegro and giving them hope for a better life.

This organization has made an incalculable difference to the lives of stray and abandoned cats in Montenegro. They are the only ones doing so and their work very very important.

Kotor Kitties helped me when I found four abandoned kittens in Montenegro. There are always so many kittens suffering and sick in Kotor so I’m glad of the spay and neuter program which is trying to bring those numbers down.

Always ready to help animals in need either by donating food or by organizing spay/ neuter treatment for strays. They give their best to find fosters or forever homes and to educate local habitants about proper care for cats. I really wish that they will continue with their amazing work for many years to come

Kotor Kitties has made big difference in Montenegro regarding quality of life of street cats and animals in all, has provided free sterilization, vet visits to injured and sick cats, it has helped with food for street cats and abandoned kittens, works constantly at rasing education how to help animals in general, helped with finding home for abandoned animals, influencing goverment to change their laws in favour to protection of animals. Kotor Kitties is the first organization in Montenegro that dedicated their time, effort and funds to really change the lives of the vulnerable creatures. On the specific places were all the cats are spayed and neutered you can see that they are healty and happy despite the fact that they live on the streets.

Kotor Kitties are the ray of hope for the entire population of cats in the area of beautiful Boka Bay in Montenegro. I was absolutely desperate as this beautiful stray female cat was incredibly persistent to become a member of the family here. I never had cats beforehand and was also hesitant to adopt one due to my frequently traveling lifestyle. April from Kotor Kitties indeed brought spring to the area as she convinced me to take her and helped me about neutering. Her effort sorted her, later Corona made me not travel so now the cat is a happy 4 years old, living the high quality life and has improved my life too. I hope that Kotor Kitties gets all the attention and support because they truly need and deserve it

My boyfriend and I have been involved in animal welfare in Perast for many years now.
Over the years, as well as feeding lots of strays in the village, we 've managed to sterilise quite a few, when our funds allowed. Since being involved with Kotor Kitties and their amazing work, we can see that the large scale sterilization program undertaken by them, has had a huge impact. The streets are certainly not as full of tiny starving kittens as before. Obviously this programme has to continue long term and we would urge anyone who can , to support this wonderful organisation.

I visited the city of Kotor, Montenegro several years before the founding of Kotor Kitties. The plight of the cities' cats and those of Montenegro as a whole was dire with no organized sterilization or rescue organizations. As I do volunteer rescue work back at home in New Jersey I this greatly pained me and the lack of help for these cats was not something I forgot. Upon returning home I tried, but failed to find them some type of assistance.
When I accidentally came across Kotor Kitties Instagram page last year, I was beyond ecstatic. They are changing the lives of the cats of Montenegro and also the mindset of the people who care for them and doing so was and is still no small feat. Kotor Kitties has accomplished astounding things in the short time it's existed and have truly brought hope to the cats of Montenegro.
