Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Counseling, Human Service Organizations, Human Services, Mental Health, Mental Health & Crisis Intervention

Mission: The Kids' Place, established after the 1995 bombing in Oklahoma City, promotes the use a trained volunteers to provide compassionate support for children, teens, and their adult family members who are mourning the death of a family member or friend. We are an independent, community-based non-profit that provides training and curriculum designed to help churches and/or community groups set up family grief support systems much like we have in central Oklahoma. We responded to the tragedy in New York City (September 11, 2001) by sending teams of mental health workers within 5 days of the tragedies and again in six months. We continue to offer information and support to children's grief programs in the northeast and other locations in the country. Visit our website (www.kidsplace.org) for additional information.
