I LOVED KIDS AND CULTURE. It was an amazing experience and I got to make friends with everyone that I went with. It was something that I will not forget for the rest of my life and I am really greatful I had the opportunity of going (P.S. I never knew I loved beans on toast so much until I went to london for the very first time)
Hi I’m a friend of someone who participated in this . It was an amazing opportunity for her and she constantly raves about how amazing the program is I would have loved to have an opportunity like this as a highschooler.
I am a friend of someone who did this program, and it truly is such a phenomenal opportunity. The fact that teenagers are exposed to this is a great way to give them an experience they will never forget. I wish I had been able to hear about this opportunity when I was in high school because I would have definitely taken advantage of the opportunity.
It's truly a remarkable program that offers incredible opportunities for the youth of NYC. It's a hidden gem, providing invaluable resources and experiences that deserve wider recognition. I wish I would have heard about this opportunity when I was a high school student!!!
I’m a relative of an alumni from KNC and I’m amazed at how nice of an opportunity it was for her. This is absolutely the type of program you’d want to promote and let everyone know about. It’s an amazing experience and I’m genuinely shocked that there’s resources like this available for the teens of NYC.
One of the best experiences of my life. The vibes were there and we were always on the move. Laughing was all we did throughout the trip. We went to Spain but the people we were there with made the trip memorable. A beautiful program with beautiful people at the head of it.
KidsNCulture is NOT an opportunity you want to miss. As an alumni from 2022, I can absolutely say Walter and all the other people apart of KNC have changed my perspective on learning and exploring. The friends you meet are irreplaceable and the memories I made are unforgettable. I enjoy staying in contact even now with Walter and all the others I met during my voyage and I’m so grateful and happy to be working with KNC again!
My friend was a part of this program and unfortunately I missed my age range to join but I know that it was a life changing experience! The pictures and stories she came back with were absolutely amazing and I would recommend this program to any highschooler looking to learn beyond their borders.
I was apart of KNC's 2022 Spain tip, and being selected was one of the best opportunities I've ever been gifted with! To be able to expose myself to a different culture with other open minded students was a very enriching experience. The memories and friendships I made throughout the trip I still hold dear to my heart, and I'm so glad that I've been able to establish such meaningful connections through it. I would highly recommend this opportunity if you are curious about traveling/learning about other cultures, and love meeting new people!
My daughter was given the opportunity to participate in Kids N Culture last year. She visited Spain. Not only did she have an opportunity to learn and explore the culture, she was able to meet and spend time with other teens that were also chosen to partake in this adventure! She took many pictures, and for every photo there was a story. I am truly grateful to KNC for allowing my daughter to experience such an amazing time!
I absolutely loved my experience with kids n culture. They were great at combining learning and fun on our trip to The UAE. The curriculum is highly engaging, the chaperones were amazing, and overall the program has a good cause. I would 100% recommend students to be a part of this nonprofit!
This program is amazing. Well organized and above all respectful of the cultures of the countries they visit. The meetings they organized are well informed and the patience and attention to detail is amazing. My daughter loved the experience and could not say enough positive things about Walter. I’m thankful that she had him on the trip. Sure if she could she would travel with this program again and again.
Back in high school, I was able to join Kids N Culture where i was introduced to a plethora of opportunities from meeting other students from around the city, to learning about different cultures, and ultimately was able to travel to many of the countries that we learned about. My brothers who came after me also were able to take part in everything Kids N Culture had to offer and it really opened not only our minds but also our worlds. Coming from a Dominican background, we were used to traveling back and forth to the Dominican Republic, but joining Kids N Culture allowed me and my brothers to broaden our horizons. My parents were also very grateful for the program as they couldn't always afford to take us to these places, but were very thankful that we had the opportunity to travel freely and to learn about the world around us. Kids N Culture isn't only amazing because of the traveling, but also because of the experience you get to interact with other students from around NYC who are also learning new things, and exchanging ideas and opinions about these new discoveries. Being able to enjoy these new experiences with new students and mentors and being able to bond with each other over these experiences is something that can't be found everywhere. Even now as an alumni, I carry these experiences with me and continue to encourage the students that I know to apply because Kids N Culture is definitely a once in a lifetime experience, but it is an experience that will follow you for the rest of you life. I hope the program continues to grow and expand to all students.
The most impactful trip that I have ever been on. On my trip to India, I had the privilege of immersing myself within Indian culture by having the food, listening to the music, and trying to pick up some of the language (keyword: trying). This trip showed me the beauty of India that most never have the chance to experience because of their two-dimensional view of "third-world countries." Thank you Kids N Culture for showing me the "Danger of a Single Story."

This is a great program that enables underprivileged students to travel to exotic countries and make change by sharing their own culture and participating in various volunteering projects. This program will prepare students to become more well-rounded individuals by letting them experience a new culture.
Kids N Culture is a tremendous organization that is making a huge impact on High School students in New York. They help children with excellent educational programs and the experience to learn and travel to another country. They also create custom curriculums that offer global awareness and cross-cultural understanding . Top notch organization!
An amazing trip that they organized for our nonprofit to Ecuador. Their preparation workshop curriculum was engaging and educational and brought a deeper understanding and appreciation of the country. They were also flexible enough to incorporate things that our organization wanted to add as a part of the learning and team building experience. The trip itself was well organized, had a a amazing balance of fun and immersion and educational. I loved everything about the trip.
Kids N Culture undoubtedly changed my life as well as contributed in many ways to the development of the person I am today. Within my experience with Kids N Culture, I was able to learn, grow, support and service to both communities locally and internationally. And If you ask me many non profits and other programs do not have the privilege of doing exactly that. The relationships and memories I have gained from my Thailand 2017 travel experience both pre and post are ones that I will hold forever close to my heart. Since 2017 Kids N Culture remained constant in providing me with opportunities to service, learn and grow whether it’s through active projects in New York or new opportunities abroad. I truly couldn’t thank them enough for molding me into a better person.
Kids N Culture is an incredible organization dedicated to expanding the worldview of high school students and activating the spirit of collective humanity through travel. The program addresses notions of white supremacy, American exceptionalism in an accessible way while encouraging students to explore their own identity and the cultural composition that makes them, them. In a world where scale trumps quality, Kids N Culture keeps cohorts small and intimate creating a safe space for students to engage with one another and the people they meet while traveling. Yea
Great initiatives this organization has been driving. Education, especially to underprivileged youth, holds such importance in my heart and Kids N Culture has been building equity in this space for years.
Wonderful organization with a great team. I've been supporting Kids N Culture for several years now and love the mission of fighting for equality by providing students with an opportunity to build a global perspective.
This is an awesome non profit organization. The focus is a noble one; expanding the minds of young people and giving them an opportunity to travel and learn beyond the classroom. With these travel opportunities these young people in turn can make the world better. This is a worthy organization that my husband and I donate to and support. So happy this organization exists.
Incredible program that continues to bring exciting and interactive programs for students here in New York and beyond. They run entirely on volunteers, and I have enjoyed every moment working with this program.
The team behind Kids N Culture is as dedicated as they come. Through these tough times, they've tirelessly worked on fulfilling their mission and adapting as needed. I don't doubt that when normalcy returns, they will return stronger and the kids will benefit more than they already have.
Kids N Culture allows students to immerse themselves in a culturally rich experience in a different part of the world. Wherever they take their ambassadors (students), they base their curriculum around that selected country. The ambassadors are encouraged to be open to the new cultures and food that await them. Personally, being a part of this nonprofit has really opened my eyes to the outside world, and is what birthed my love for travel. The love I have for the nonprofit and their mission statement is what pushed me to want and help them out in anyway I can. I want others to get the opportunity I had because it’s something that one needs to experience.
As an alumni of Kids N Culture, I have been able to experience the rich foundation of global education and social awareness this organization gives its students. I am fortunate to have traveled with Kids N Culture and develop my sense of leadership and educated empathy. I will never forget the people I met and the lessons I learned while in Tanzania. Thank you Kids N Culture! Love you
Great nonprofit that gives scholars the opportunity to see the world through well planned itineraries and cultural immersive experiences.
Kids N Culture held a workshop in my classroom. My students participated in interesting discussions and reflection on their identity and being a global citizen. The messages of Kids N Culture aligns well with our social-emotional curriculum and was a great addition to their learning. Mr. Doyle is a dynamic teacher and I'm glad my students and I had the opportunity to work with him!
Walt has come into my classroom several times over the years, and he always brings so much positivity and enthusiasm with him. My students love the workshops; I just wish they could expand the travel programs to other cities. Here's to hoping for additional funding and growth, so they can share their program with even more students!
Last summer My daughter volunteered in a school in Guayaguil, Ecuador. This year she is studying abroad in Spain for 1 year and doing an internship with a Refugee center. Next year she will apply for a Fulbright scholarship to work with refugees or teach abroad.
I attribute these accomplishments to Kids n Culture. Her trip to atanzania with them at 16 , planted a seed of love for travel , diplomacy and global care. I am so grateful for the experience they gave her and all the support & motivation since. It is a tryely unique and wonderful program that reaches far beyond the regular parameters of enrichment !! They deserve all the stars & great support !
This is an amazing program that helps inner city children get exposure to different cultures.
-Proud alum
Kids N Culture provides an incredible experience for young students. It is immersive, and equally international as it is local. Students leave the program feeling more worldly and equally more connected to their community at home. I've been fortunate enough to engage with some of the students along the way and what Kids N Culture does is truly unlike anything else. Hats of to the owners who are incredibly involved and invested in the well being of these students.
Kids N Culture is an amazing organization that has touched so many lives! I had the opportunity to witness Mr. James Walter Doyle start up the international program when I taught with him during the 2008-2009 school year at Thurgood Marshall Academy of Learning and Social Change in New York City. I was amazed how tirelessly he worked to ensure that ALL students who were signed up were able to go, regardless of any perceived roadblocks. Soon, through his tenacious fundraising efforts, Kids N Culture was born, and he was able to fully subsidize all dedicated students who signed up and agreed on specialized training to help better prepare them for their trip. All students who have since been involved with the international program have graduated high school, and countless opportunities for empowerment through education and travel have been created!
Nine years after the first trip he put together, Mr. Doyle contacted me about the organization’s new traveling classroom residency program that focuses on character education and invaluable cross-cultural communication skills. His passion for inclusion and desire to make a real difference were immediately clear to me and are also very evident in the workshop’s mission and material. In fact, after seeing the Kids N Culture curriculum, many local teachers and principals in Wichita, KS were interested and excited to learn more, and together we were successful in bringing them to several classrooms at Cottonwood Elementary in Andover, Kansas. The project achieved a high level of local support and was fully funded through DonorsChoose.org.
The staff and the principal loved the lesson and the active, experiential learning that took place! Students were engaged in powerful dialogue that centered around the importance of self-acceptance, understanding the value of their unique identities, and also different ways to show others acceptance and respect. I truly believe that the work Kids N Culture is doing is transformative and life-changing for students, and the curriculum is extremely adaptable to different ages, grades, learning styles, and cultures! They are more than deserving of any award they are up for! They are truly making the world a better place!
I had a great wish to travel and understand while help a community. I was able to do that through Kids N Culture. I learned from a culture that was far different from my own, yet could still draw similarities to and relate with my own. Learning about and learning from are very different, and this program helped me to understand the importance of learning FROM more than about. Learning about involves reading and research on other cultures but learning from is more direct, more personal, and that is what we did during my visit to Thailand. Not only did we learn from the people about their culture, but through the trip, we also learned about ourselves and our strengths and weaknesses in how open we were to learn and experience something outside our comfort zones, while forming a about with each other. Kids N Culture gave me an opportunity to explore and learn, an experience I hope every student gets to experience.
To be honest, nothing will ever beat my experience with Kids N Culture at Greece. I revisited Greece again, but I can tell you it was nothing compared to my Kids N Culture experience and I’m soo glad I was able to go. I hope to travel with Kids N Culture once more . I just really want to thank you once again for having such an opportunity for young people like me. That trip was really the start of my journey and without it I wouldn’t be who I am today, I’ve grown so much from it. Every single body deserves Kids N Culture. There’s no other program like it.
I had the best time with KidsNCulture. They gave me the experience I could never get in my life. They help underprivileged kids get an experience that literally changes their lives. For me, it was the journey to Alaska and back!
What a fantastic program! We have sent students to Alaska, Greece, and India, and will send students and staff to Japan this year. Our kids come back not just having had a once-in-a-lifetime experience but with a broader understanding or the world around them and a refined sense of purpose and leadershp. Kids N Culture alumni are among our most successful graduates!
Being apart of Kids and Culture offered me an experience in life that I will never forget. I learned a lot in my five days traveling with this nonprofit. We went to Alaska, where I was exposed to a different type of lifestyle. Anytime one is able to witness the different conditions and environments other people live through, it serves as an eye opener to a more broad lens of the human experience.
Kids N Culture has pushed into my classroom for a day of student centered workshops, and I could not have been happier. The curriculum and activities were rooted in social emotional learning standards, and gave students the space and scaffolding to have meaningful conversations about who they are, and how to look beyond our own lives to connect with others. But this was not a fluffy anti-bullying course - the organization took the time to understand who I was as an educator, who my students are and the experiences they bring to the table, AND what we were currently learning in the classroom when they were expected to visit. They connected the curriculum to our classroom learning, and provided materials and additional lessons that we can use later on throughout the year to build on the foundation they created. I hope they continue to grow and work with teachers and students alike, and that we one day have their travel programs here in Ohio as well!
Such a great nonprofit to be apart of. Months before the trip, students are engaged in meaningful activities and conversations through a curriculum . We start to grow close to one another and learn a ton. On the trip, we have such a great time facing our fears and learning more about the deeper world around us while growing into mature young adults. One trip with Kids N culture will make you feel like you’ve traveled the world.
I was a part of Kids N Culture’s 2018 India Cohort. They did an amazing job of enveloping you in a culture completely different than yours, being respectful of others, and give a beautiful travel experience to NYC youth. The community service done is meaningful, and leaves a lasting impact. Truly an amazing organization.
As an inner city student, I was exposed to global citizenship, compassion and research skills at the young age of 16. Currently I have a major in Government and Politics and minors in Social Justice and International Studies, all guided by my experiences while traveling with Kids N Culture.
Have seen the organization grow from a small grassroots cause to a city-wide initiative, and now to an organization with a national presence. Their curriculum is strong and necessary, and their approach is essential. Allowing students the chance to explore and be curious about the world outside of their own is the only way we can prepare students to be actively involved with a world outside of their own.
