Nonprofit Overview

Mission: To help parents learn to put the needs of their children first , and to minimize the emotional trauma of their separation and divorce. Support groups are also held for children and adolescents so they can share their experiences and learn positive coping skills. The center assists families that experience domestic violence and address ways their children can be cared for in a safe and positive manner when separation or divorce occurs. Additionally, the center provides opportunities for professionals who work with families to collaborate and receive continuing education to further the belief that separation and divorce should occur in a non-adversarial manner, while addressing the children's needs first.

The staff here is extremely unprofessional , refuse to answer any Questions and a rude. I asked a question a few times because they refused to answer. I was told my the instructor to shut the f** *up and kicked of zoom. I’m a class about resolving conflict the instructors for this are the farthest from
Qualified. The question
Asked was after this class if your co parenting partner refuses to participate or communicate anything pertaining the the children (which is the currant state of things) what do we do. If you want to be treated like a child , yelled at and told to shut the f***up by the instructor then by all means give the kids first center your time and money.

I was first introduced to KIDS FIRST when we moved to the Portland, Maine area in 2003. At the time, my sister was going through a terrible divorce (without children). I saw how her divorce was affecting her both physically and emotionally, and could not imagine how children, whose parents are divorcing, deal with this painful time in their lives. KIDS FIRST Center, a Maine non-profit, offers children of all ages a place to share their feelings; to let them know they're not alone and their feelings/thoughts are experienced by others. KIDS FIRST also provides the tools that parents need to help their children at this most stressful time- because, after all, "It's Your Divorce, NOT Theirs". All children need to grow in to loving, caring adults. KIDS FIRST can help.
