Causes: Children & Youth, Foster Care
Mission: Key assets foundation is actively involved in both the service of children in out-of-home care and the evidencing of those outcomes. Effectiveness of foster care and the provision of supports along the continuum of care become the primary functions of this organization. Key assets will engage in research and service to promote more effective and efficient care. This development and evidencing of these outcomes will not be limited to internal research and evaluation, but may be extended to larger cohorts of children and youth as well as programming provided by any agency interested in this model of 1) service provision 2) evaluation 3) revision 4) replication. Key assets will advocate for models that maintain children in their communities of origin or as close as safely possible. Key assets will utilize its research to assist agencies and government in putting together evidence based models for children in foster care.
Programs: The organization created a program called opportunities to participate and transform (opt). Through opt key services will invite the people with post traumatic or developmental/intellectual disabilities with a variety of interpersonal or behavioral issues to be introduced into a valuable role in their community by attending integrated work readiness training with community partners to include employers and community colleges. The goal in this partnership is to increase the individual's ability to be included in community life as a student and potentially accepted as a future student or employee and to develop employment related skills and opportunities to facilitate employment.
