Mission: Keep growing detroit exists to promote a food sovereign city where the majority of fruits and vegetables detroiters consume are grown by residents within the city's limits.
Programs: The first program is the garden resource program which provides high quality seeds sustainably, locally grown vegetable transplants to family, community, school, and market gardens across the city of detroit. Approximately 15,500 people directly benefit from this program annually.
the second program provides dozens of educational opportunities, technical assistance, and guidance in community organizing and garden development. Approximately 550 people benefited from this program in 2014.
the third program is made up of more than 70 growers who sell their detroit-grown fruits and vegetables at farmers markets and outlets throughout the city.
the fourth program is operating plum street market garden which provides training in food production methods and creating urban agriculture projects that integrate into and strengthen neighborhoods.
