The foundation made awards to kdp members through classroom teacher grants, scholarships, chapter grants, and the literacy alive! Program. 3,570 kdp members participated in literacy alive! , the society's signature community outreach program, completing 169 local projects, collectively serving 49,198 people and donating 40,823 books. The foundation managed the assets and administered the national and chapter individual scholarship programs that awarded 34 national scholarships and 37 chapter-based awards.
