Causes: Arts & Culture, Singing & Choral Groups
Mission: The kansas city women's chorus is a non-profit, community based choral group that comes together with the joined purpose of creating a positive musical contribution to the community. Our mission is to give voice to women through excellence in music, and promote harmony in our diverse community. It is our greatest hope that upon experiencing our music, our songs will engage the heart, celebrate the spirit, and enrich the minds of our audiences.
Programs: Kcwc provides a voice for women in kansas city. Concert repertoire addresses the rich diversity of our membership, featuring choral works from across the globe, including new commissions that speak to women's issues. Throughout our history, kcwc has tackled relevant women's topics including breast cancer, motherhood, aging, religion, sexual orientation, gender equality, gender roles, nurturing the environment, women in the workplace, and family life. In recent years, the overall choral sound of the chorus has developed and matured with the richness and depth of the many new voices who have joined our organization. This season kcwc built bridges with local community charities and brought entertaining and enlightening women's choral music to kansas city. The chorus sponsored 2 major fundraising events. Audience members describe the kcwc experience as a delightful combination of the serious and whimsical, while providing a safe space for women to express themselves artistically.
